Wildfires

We've got 9 major fires burning in Oregon right now, 3 right around Southern Oregon, and two more have been reported, one just north of us, and one 12 miles south.  Over 300 lightning strikes in our locality this afternoon.

Looks like Erickson will be keeping most of their S-64 helos right around home........

The fire to the south, the Beaver complex has been contained,  and the fire to the North, Rogue River Drive, is on the North bank of the river. Two days of rain helped fighters to control the blazes.  Ironic that this is the home of Erickson Air Crane.......there was never any danger to us, I was just bemoaning the waste of timberland and manpower.

As far as arson goes, the city had a string of 23 arson fires, set in empty, foreclosed homes in May, June, and July.  Police are confident they have the perpetrator in custody.  Especially since the 24th fire was set in the Jail bathroom while she was in there.

secondhand,many of the wildfires you see here are caused by lightning,but some are from campfires too,and yes,some are deliberate. 

here where i live in the midwest,we have terrible grass fires during droughts,usually caused by a careless camper,but sometimes they're caused by a regulated burn going wild. 

and sometimes by illegal trash burning too.

I remember hearing when we had fires this summer that there were people suspected of driving through the moutains near Yarram and chucking burning toilet rolls out the window of a ute. Dunno if they were ever convicted though...

Also, a lot of our fires are caused by idiots chucking

their cigarette butts out the car window

Hey sin, we aussies are a bit weird in as much as we call everyone guys. We don't do the guys and gals thing.

Something missing in our education lol must be too far from the mainland
