I have many regrets in my life, but one thing I still congratulate myself about, 24 years later, is giving up smoking.

 

I gave it up for the very reason mentioned in the article, 3rd hand smoke clinging to curtains, carpets and furnishings.

 

My daughter was pregnant and living with me at the time, and I didn't want the baby to be born into a smoking household.

 

To this day, neither of my children, nor my 3 grandies smoke.

Altho I think they go a bit overboard with banning smoking. For instance, in the entire CBD of Sydney. There's lots more cancer causing substances in our food and our atmosphere that should be examined.

 

Doesn't stop them constantly raising the costs of tobacco and pocketing the tax .

Cancer is only one result of smoking.  Smoking contributes hugely to the main COD in Australia, and to debilitating illnesses.

food additives, pesticides and airborne pollutants also cause other debilitating illnesses besides cancer.
