peace and harmony
sounds like a slogan for a retirement village. looking for those things on CS is somewhat delusional.

Are you in the advertising field? Make yourself useful. Perhaps you could go and spend some time thinking of some slogans for pre-schools.

I don't know what "change out " means??? 🙂
Will a picture of my real dog be okay(avatar)? Oh... there she is already.
Ebay is taking away our(U.S.) Off topic boards, and forcing those posters to post in groups now.
I'd rather post here, than on a group board on the U.S. site. I like you. I've even grown fond of being called a yank.
Is it possible for you all to get together and make one very big open group? I wonder if that could work.

i wonder if it's a legal thing.
is ebay responsible if there is racist hate speech (for example) posted in a group/forum and are there differences?
maybe they just want to save on mods wages. maybe the groups will not be moderated?

nah, all groups are monitored by lithium now not as private as closed groups used to be

Old Amazon Jungle Proverb: - "You can lead a horse to water, but it's hard as hell to beat off all the pirahanas..."
Old Australian Bush Proverb: - "You can lead a horse to water, mate, but it's hard as hell to beat off all the Crocs..."
Old Washington, D.C. proverb: - You can lead a horse to water, but you'll need fourteen bribes and a parade permit....

Yes Tmc,
I haven't seen you post anything about Quackers over on the US board and I was afraid to ask.

On the US boards, was there often little annoyances that made it virtually impossible to have a grownup conversation? Hence Groups having to be utilized solely for peace and harmony?

Okay, how do I answer that quickly? I can't. LOL
Some people started threads WANTING jokey posts. Some were started for serious conversation and/or sprited debate. If someone came in to disrupt one of the serious discussions, it annoyed some (which the disrupter often wanted) but most would just ignore. They USED to actually have an ignore a poster option but eBay got rid of that on their last redo of the boards. Personally, I never used the ignore button.
The groups BEFORE had an option of being set up private or open to anyone. The groups I know of were specific topic with members who would be interested in THAT topic. For example, I used to be a member of a private group related to antique dolls re identifying, buying, selling, and just showing off something to people who would appreciate it. The posts in the private posts couldn't be read by anyone outside of that particular group. People in the private groups were more likely to discuss personal information, show personal family photos, etc.. You could talk openly about what you purchased, found, did on OR OFF eBay, including posting links. The last eBay reformat changed that. The groups, which were previously unmonitored, became more monitored for links, language, etc. than some of the regular boards like this one.
One of the problems with the groups is that new people are unlikely to find your group if it cannot be mentioned out on the regular boards like this one, especially when there will no longer BE a regular board like this one. Any off-topic post on the remaining eBay business specific boards will be immediately removed. Even a post that IS eBay business must be on topic for that thread and/or board. This is already policy everywhere except the general discussion boards. which are being removed and relegated to the groups section next week. There will be no mention of their whereabouts on the remaining business boards.
Free speech is just about gone.
