Back there was a parking ticket naming a street 3km away in a different suburb with Permit Zone on it. Not only wrong st but the st i parked in has no restrictions. What the ...... but how can i prove they are wrong?..

Have already lodged for a full review via the
Official channels .....i won,t wait the 90 days though.... cannot do anything else right now.but wait a bit. I just feel for others caught out like this, maybe ppl who don't understand English too well. I just don't know how they cd make such a glaring error.

I don't know how they could either.
It is almost as if they should swipe the number plate with some sort of version of GPS tracker which shows date/time/location, similar to what happens (sometimes) when parcels are delivered.
Lyndal, best of luck with your application to be excused from voting. I think it sounds perfectly acceptable.
I actually think voting should be optional for anyone over 65 or anyone who has medical reasons why it is hard for them to get out to vote.
With my own parking ticket drama, I ended up paying the fine as the police officer had been very good, he explained that (at that time) there had been a push to clamp down on unpaid fines. So that if unpaid, the fine jumped to about triple or more of the original & if they still had to follow it up, it went up again & at that point it was high enough that they were forced to impose a compulsory 2 days in jail.
The good news was the signage in the area greatly improved and the hospital (which is where I was going but it had no parking at the time as it was undergoing extension) then had big signs put up and offered shuttle buses.

As a matter of interest, is the time of the offence listed - and does it match the time you were parked?

In NSW the form has 3 options.....you can give up and pay the fine, or you can give them the details of where and approximately what time you did vote or third option is if you did not vote but have a reason.
I took the last option just last week as I did not vote in the local council elections. For many years I have done postal voting and this year my forms did not arrive until the Monday after the elections. On the day my knees were so bad that there was no way I could even walk to the front gate, let alone into the voting place.
If they accept my reason all well and good....if not then I will have to fork over $55.
The same reason got me out of Jury Duty a few months ago and without a doctors certificate.
I have usually found that when it comes to a "he said, I said" situation if you present a solid well reasoned argument with as much proof as possible....and without being too antagonistic....you will often win your case.
Lyndal I live in Vic and received a "please explain" letter re not voting in last local council elections. It had the same 3 options as you mentioned, I sent it back along with an enclosed explanation re not voting, I never heard back from them, so not everything in Vic is an automatic fine

I'm glad to hear that Bushie.....I have dealt with a few of these forms over the years on behalf of a blind neighbour and my elderly parents and each time there was the option to offer an explanation.
I woud have been singularly unimpressed if my parents had been fined as on each occasion they were in hospital and in no condition to fill in any forms even if there had been time to organise them.

Is the street you parked in similar in name to the street listed on the fine?

I think there are on the spot fines for traffic infrigments etc., but not for failing to vote .... I certainly didnt receive one

Nothing like it springy, it is Westbury Grove and the other st 3 to 4 kms away is Mitford St. Different suburb too.
Performance Parts ..... yes the time does match. within about an hour or so.
