DB: "Another stupid shooting in the US" I agree DB, but they will continue whilst a good majority of the US population fail to grasp the original intent of the 2nd Amendment to their Constitution which is encapsulated in the first four words from it :
"A well regulated Militia,................."
Most civilians with guns worry me.
I have summarised below what I have read regarding gun homicides from similar type countries circa 2012, for meaningful comparison the 2nd set of figures is for overall homicides also per 100,000
GUN RATE OVERALL RATE
UK had a rate per 100,000 of 0.07 or 41. 1.00 = 653 dead
Australia had a rate per 100,000 of 0.13 or 30. 1.10 = 254 dead
Canada had a rate per 100,000 of 0.50 or 173. 1.60 = 543 dead
USA had a rate per 100,000 of 3.00 or 9146 4.7 = 14,827 dead
Those figures are sobering enough in themselves, but even more disturbing is the fact that women are far more likely to be victims of gun homicides as a result of "domestics" e.g.
Washington, DC — More than 1,700 women were murdered by men in the United States in 2012, and more than 90 percent were killed by someone they knew,
Nationwide, for homicides in which the circumstances could be identified, 85 percent of the homicides were not related to the commission of another felony. Most often, females were killed by males in the course of an argument between the victim and the offender.
Firearms — especially handguns — were the weapons most commonly used by males to murder females in 2012.
Women suffering from domestic violence are eight times more likely to be killed if there are firearms in the home.

If you want stitistics, more people die from perscription drugs than guns. mass murder pills, but you won't see a big push from government to do something about all those deaths, no, can't go against big pharma.

Well, IF this woman did not have a gun, her husband would not get shot. Simple. People do not usually murder or accidentally kill somebody with prescription drugs. Killing with gun is quick and easy.

This from the CDC.
* Of the 22,767 deaths relating to pharmaceutical overdose in 2013, 16,235 (71.3%) involved opioid analgesics (also called opioid pain relievers or prescription painkillers), and 6,973 (30.6%) involved benzodiazepines.8 (Some deaths include more than one type of drug.)
12.4% of OD's were suicide.
One can assume that the majority of accidental overdoses were because the victims did not heed the instructions on the label.
Gun deaths are a different matter. Those figures that monman supplied were all murders.

and/or had contraindicating condition, which they did not know about, or their doctor did not know about.

You missed my point. bigtime. People are perscribed pills (mass murder pills) that make them go on a shooting spree, it's not the gun, or knife, or screwdriver, hammer, it's not even the pill doing the killing. It's the doctors that perscribe the pills, and the drug companies that push it.
Answer this, why should I loose my rights because of others who abuse the responcability of having the rights, and the doctors, drug companies and government involvment that pushes them to it. ?

The title is misleading. I don't recall anyone saying they are proud of gun laws for or against. They are what they are and different from state to state.
NYC has gun laws much like Australia. Those laws loosen up as you move further upstate. That means guns can easily be smuggled in from where it's legal to where it's not.
You live on an "island". Obviously not an island, but the same. You guys are worried about a few thousand boat people. Try between 15 and 20 million illegals that bring weapons and their crimal activities with them, just a stroll across the boarder. That's almost the entire population of your country.
Another 20 million homegrown gang bangers. That doesn't even include organized crime, bikers, etc.
Take out all the murders commited by those groups and I bet the murder rates would be the same.
Not to mention this country was built by guns. It made the US a free country, and tamed the west. Some people still depend on their guns to make a living and/or to put food on the table.
You had what....200,000 guns collected. I bet there are over a billion guns here. Imagine trying to collect all those. Especially considering the amount of resistance. It's impossible.
And in conclusion....when the zombie apocalypse hits...you guys are screwed!
Killing with gun is quick and easy.
Exactly! And until something better comes along.....Pow!

And in conclusion....when the zombie apocalypse hits...you guys are "bleeped"
Not sure how effective guns will be on the walking dead, they already have no hertbeat, pulse or blood flow. Stopping those bodily functions when they are already stopped. In the first 3 return of the living dead movies, even destroying the brain didn't stop them, what is left will just keep coming.
