Yet another of those stupid little things that irritate me ....

At the bakery I go to almost everyday for bread they never say "can I help you" or anything like that.  It is always "ya right?".  Hate it, hate it, hate it X-(

They are really nice otherwise but that just grates everytime I hear it 😐

Yet another of those stupid little things that irritate me ....

When I first arrived in Australia from London, I was really freaked out by going into shops and being asked "Are you right?" ... in the UK it was always "Can I help you?".

I didn't know what to say back to people.

And, I was always reminded of the joke my Welsh uncle used ... when we arrived to stay with his family, he would ask:  "Are you alright".  We'd nod and say yes, and he would chortle and say:  "No you aren't, you're half left".  Every holiday ...

Are we on irritating things in supermarkets? Or in general.

If supermarkets:

I hate how they don't keep the UH cream near the UH milk, at C*l*s. I like to keep a little carton of it in the pantry for cooking purposes.

For some strange reason they keep it near desserts, and I always forget and look for it where they keep the UH milk. Then I have to retrace my steps and go back. If I'm shopping in my lunch hour, this makes me cranky.

Bright, you got me going 😉

I had a chat with a checkout operator in Coles or Woollies recently.  I got the "hello, how are you today?" question (as usual).  It annoys me because I know that they say the same thing, with the same inflection, to every customer and they don't really care one bit how I am.  So, I asked if they were required to say the same thing to every customer.  Yep, they are.  I asked if she found it difficult.  Yep.  I asked if customers liked it.  Nope.

Quite honestly, I'd be happy if my goods were rung up in total (lovely, blissful) silence and then I'm told "that'll be $66.65 thanks".  I pay, add my thanks and leave.  I don't want mindless, uncaring chatter, with insincere questions and wishes about my day.

If, asked about how I am, I say that my back is killing me, I've got flu, my house is a mess, my mad aunt is bugging me, I nearly got run over on the way to the store, and the weather is shocking ... it's like all this information is going into a void.  I get plastic responses.  I might as well have not said anything.  And THAT would be my preference.

Oh, I'm not blaming the cashiers (and I used to be one myself), I'm putting the blame fully on management.

/end rant, and thank you for the opportunity 🙂
