Why do drivers forget cyclists are human? Your anger can kill us
its called 'the pecking order'
cyclists dont give a carp for pedestrians.
cars dont give a carp for cyclists.
trucks dont give a carp for cars.
not all, but many.
so cyclists, dont feel your special.
btw, you would never catch me riding a bike with cars on a busy highway, ever!

I think a lot of it stems from motorists here in Australia being accustomed to having the roads for cars only.
When we came from Scandinavia we were surprised there were no cycle paths on the side of roads.
Europe is accustomed to cyclists and don't have the distances like here in Australia.
Dedicated cyclists lanes are still very new here so you get motorists thinking bicycles don't really belong on roads combined with environmentally conscious cyclists pressing for acceptance. Instant conflict and it will continue until seperate cyclist lanes are created.
This a typical road set up in Denmark in place before I was born.
As for Australia, the car is king. Until cyclists become closer to a majority, the attitude here won't change.

And then there are those bicyclists who thumb their noses at stop signs and traffic signals.

some countries like scandinavia have it worked out, seperate 'lanes' for cars, bikes and walking.
the reason we dont, as allways, money.
we took the cheapest options, take some of the road and call it a bike lane AND allow cyclists to ride on footpaths.
its called a footpath for a reason, its not called a 'get out of my way i have a right to ride on it'

I think the attitude of many cyclists is a major contributor to the bikes V cars thing. Recently I was in a line of a dozen or so cars waiting to enter a busy roundabout. When my turn came I turned onto the roundabout road only to nearly clean up a cyclist.
Turns out while I was watching to my right for a break in the traffic, the cyclist had peddled up the LH side of the waiting cars and proceeded to enter the roundabout two abreast with me. It was a very close shave and to be honest scared the carp out of me. I dont actually want to be the one to run over a cyclist, but when they do crazy things like that, frankly they deserve everything they get !!!
