a HUGE WTF moment

So, on Sunday morning i get a phone call from my sister telling me that my niece had just given birth to a baby boy.
She did not know she was pregnant. No one knew she was pregnant. She really had no pregnancy signs at all. She woke up in the night in agony, was rushed to hospital and was already 9cm dilated.
The baby is small but it still classed as a good size. At this stage bub is still in hospital as they have no idea if he is premature, so they want to keep an eye on him.
He doesnt have a name yet.

Usually you get 9 months to prepare for a baby, buy baby things, pick a name etc. My niece had about an hour to prepare for bub.

Its not completely un common for something like this to happen. I have read about things like this in magazines, but geez, i think my family has had enough WTF things happen to last a lifetime.

That's a shame that she had to go before the baby but at least it gives her a little bit of time to get organised at home.

Yes Kiwi....... I was carsick for a while..... went to the Dr who asked if I could be pregnant, I laughed and said not very likely for several reasons. He sent me off for an ultra sound and discovered I was 18 weeks. ๐Ÿ˜

Very short notice, lol. Doc was as surprised as we were.

She had her period through the whole pregnancy. Not regular but frequent enough to not suspect a pregnancy

I went to school with a girl that was a surprise baby.. her mum had periods every month... no weight gain... she thought she had bad indigestion and that was all the indications there was something different. oh.. and apparently she could not get pregnant so she didn't even consider being pregnant..

congratz... hope baby gets home soon.

My girlfriend found out she was pregnant at 24 weeks because she was in hospital for a kidney infection!!!  She reckons had she not found out then, she would never have known until the baby popped out.  She didn't look pregnant at all and hardly did when she gave birth. (c-section).

She was 30 years old, married, a psychologist with a phD, so not exactly young and inexperienced!!!  She was on the pill until she found out, and got her period the whole time.

She did think her tummy wasn't quite so flat so had taken up walking around the block a few times every night!!!

Her bub was born early due to a non-working anymore placenta.
