a HUGE WTF moment

So, on Sunday morning i get a phone call from my sister telling me that my niece had just given birth to a baby boy.
She did not know she was pregnant. No one knew she was pregnant. She really had no pregnancy signs at all. She woke up in the night in agony, was rushed to hospital and was already 9cm dilated.
The baby is small but it still classed as a good size. At this stage bub is still in hospital as they have no idea if he is premature, so they want to keep an eye on him.
He doesnt have a name yet.

Usually you get 9 months to prepare for a baby, buy baby things, pick a name etc. My niece had about an hour to prepare for bub.

Its not completely un common for something like this to happen. I have read about things like this in magazines, but geez, i think my family has had enough WTF things happen to last a lifetime.

Bub has a name now, Cooper.

Its one of those things that unless you have been a witness to it, unless you know the details, you wouldnt believe it.

That is a nice name.

I agree with the last paragraph

I knew a young lady who was pregnant but didn't want anyone else to know, so different circumstances than in this thread. She planned to go away before it was due, have the baby, adopt it out and return without anyone knowing.

The baby came a bit early so those plans were scuttled. She was watching a team playing softball and had pain and an ambulance was callled. To the surprise of her friends, who were called from the hospital to hear she had had a baby and asking them to bring some clothes in for her.

No-one else (people she lived with, people she worked with, she didn't want her family to know) had any idea she was pregnant, there was no big bump.

he was born 5 pound but has not been feeding well so is smaller now.

Niece is going back in hospital again tomorrow for 48 hours. Just so she can get some counselling as they are worried she may get PND and also help her get prepared for a new baby while also having a 1 and half year old. Then after the 48 hrs, all going well, she and bub will be out and niece moves into her new unit on Tuesday

She has her Mum, my sister.

To be honest, the bf is a loser and she would be better off with him out of her life, but, she thinks she loves him and we just have to wait for the day she wakes up and sees him for what he is

Isn't it a shame they sent her home because I would have thought they would need her there to feed the baby and now they have to get her back in.

I do hope it all goes well and they stop PND developing.
