art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: art thread?

I love the lorikeets - I would love to be able to paint.  My father did wonderful watercolours but I certainly didn't inherit his artistic talent.

Those are lovely Pepe

Re: art thread?

i remember, about 11 years ago, i did an art class.

I made a mirror, which is in daughters room and a decoupage plate, which i sent to my grandparents.

But, i did have an art kit.

Ive looked through my cupboards and have found it. The paint and brushes are still fine.

So, here's all my gear, ready to start.

Re: art thread?

Easy to get the lines straight with the good quilting rulers etc - I use a rotary cutter.

Takes a few weeks to piece a quilt - I mostly machine piece,  though at the moment i am doing one by hand (king size 1" hexagons) which may never be finished.  If not then my granddaughter can finish it!

Amy you may find you have a hidden talent - would love to see what you do.

This is a scrappy one I did for my bed.  Very quick and easy to do.

Re: art thread?

A quilt takes as long as you want it to take basically. If you work hard and do nothing else I guess you can knock one off in a couple days and again it depends on the pattern, machine or hand, many variables.

I have never been able to do a "Quilt in a day" quilt. not when you have to cut, sew, sandwich (put top layer, wadding and backing material together) and then quilt and bind. Guess it is possible for cot quilts but not a big one unless you really burn the midnight oil.

I started quilting a hundred years ago as my grandie says, when quilting was not really the go, there were no specific quilting materials and I did everything by hand, not any more, use the machine for it all these days apart from a few smaller applique items.

Re: art thread?

I still have nothing to add artwise but thank you all. And to all the budding artists, give it a go. I am gong to try something very soon and have had so much fun scrolling through and seeing everything, and (stealing) a few idea's. If I haven't said it before you are all amazing
