art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: art thread?

I think photos count, Beani ๐Ÿ™‚

I like that Cosmo ... something like "flowers" and everyone can do their own representation in their own format.  Is that what you meant?

Moonlight, I will post them PURELY in the interests of proving that I STILL can't draw and other people here are way better than me ... an ego boost for others, if you like.

Expect shortly to be bored with photos of my jewellery as I'm going on to my lap top for a while.

Re: art thread?

does taking photos count?

It sure does. Photography is great.

I should have named this the creativity thread. Basically if anyone has created anything that they are proud of, then let us have a look.

Sandcastles/sculptures, graffiti, craft, beer cans arranged to resemble body parts, whatever.

Anything and everything creative is welcome here. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes that's what I mean, any medium, any interpretation. If you used the word 'flower' it could be something that is inspired by the colour or smell of a flower, perfume, patterns etc you could draw a long bow and paint a bag of 'flour' it doesn't matter. Just kind of gives a starting point and sometimes that can be helpful.

Re: art thread?

I love the idea of a challenge amongst the new artists here !

Moonlight my advice to you is the same thing I said to amy, keep looking and looking.  For your second attempt at drawing you've done well and one way to improve on it is to look closely at where the light and dark areas on his face are.  Light and dark is what gives objects shape.  Also look at the edges, using blurred shading more than hard edged lines....does that make sense ?

I think everyone ends up having a favourite medium, mine is acrylics and mixed media.  Just let you know, there is a product called "retarder" which you add a couple of drops to your acrylic on your pallette and it helps to stop the paint from drying so fast....very necessary here in Qld !

Good luck with the challenge everyone, can't wait to see some results ๐Ÿ˜„
