Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. 🙂

moonlight, you are doing well so far. I have a friend who paints with watercolours, but mostly flowers, and they look beautiful. I have one of her painting. Will get my OH to take a photo tomorrow and post it here.
I have tried watercolours, only to finish up with a mess, so I gave that away and now only use oils.
Can't wait to see your next picture of the portrait.
Erica 😄

Thanks Erica. 🙂
My new paint set won't be delivered until after Easter, so I can't work on the portrait until then. So I improved the drawing and also made a start on a new painting, of a flower.

Made some rookie mistakes which couldn't be undone with watercolours, so decided to leave it unfinished. At some point you've got to stop working on a piece and move on . 🙂
This is the second painting I've ever done, and I am pleased with it.

Moonlight, if you're happy with a sketch in pencil, you can take a photocopy of it (or two or three) and then paint ... if you've got a good basis (as I think you did), you can then try painting again 🙂

Well, I found out today how brands of paints can differ ... one brand (it was a present, I don't know how much they cost), was cheap quality and thin ... then I used a different brand to paint over, and it was such an improvement.
I'm working on my window frame with beads thingy ... it's a great challenge because I have to make so many decisions ... what colours to paint the frame??? what pattern??? and (biggest of all), how to affix the beads.
How's everyone else going?
Was there ever agreement on the idea of a project for some of us to complete (not a challenge, a project with a time frame)? I thought that was a great idea.

me too Katy....lets have a project??
How about a flower, done in any medium you like? with a 2 week limit?

Agreed, Gillie. Flower by 15 April.
I just finished and framed my gold leaf ... photos to come later ... and I'm nearly finished painting my frame 🙂

Some beautiful bead work and paintings since I last looked in !!
Like the idea of painting a flower (or making a flower etc)..I'll join you 😄
Well, I haven't taken any pics but I'll try to explain what I've been doing.
There is a medium called Transfer gel, I don't have any so I used Impasto paste (this is the experiment I was talking about).
I applied a coating of impasto paste on a small canvas, then placed a black and white photocopy face down, smoothed it out to make sure there were no air bubbles etc.
I waited until it was dry, which will depend on humidity, thickness of paste etc. but I would say usually leave it for a day.
When it was dry I pulled the paper off and used water on my fingers to gently remove all the paper residue.
What I was left with......a black and white picture on the canvas!!
I wanted to try this as I thought we would all find some way to make this method work for us in different ways.
Use pencil or charcoal to go over the image...use any paint medium and paint the image etc.
I did think "cheating!!" but in reality, I don't think anything is cheating as long as people are told how the work was created.
A jar of impasto paste is about umm, can't remember exactly but $15 maybe....a cheap way to have black and white pictures of your kids pets whatever.
I will post pics when I get around to downloading my camera and I hope some of you will try this.
I haven't seen the actual "transfer gel" anywhere but if you see it, I imagine it may work even better? not sure really.
Hope you all had a great Easter break.
