council clean ups

how often does your council have the hard rubbish collection days

ours have only ever had one. I think they should do it here at least twice a year.

I put a bookcase out on the kerb, went out myself for about 20mins and it was gone when I returned (which i didn't mind it was quite usuable). I just don't know how people know so fast what is out. Quiet suburban street. Unless it was one of the neighbours, but similar happened before.

Even the after the council did the pick-up there were a few things they left behind (probably not big enough for that collection) and someone was around a few minutes later and took them.

Score.. not one thing left for us to dispose of.

I put some potted plants out  that I didn't want, on a random week, and they got taken.

Quite handy.. strange what people will take. One was an old pelmet from vertical blinds and a couple of other bits of metal (been hiding in the shed for years before we moved there) and they went fairly fast

I hate throwing plants out, I try to find someone who will take them , like last week I had a dahlia tree  gave it to one of the neighbours down the road.

We have a lot of contract workers, backpackers and short-term renters in our area. They can furnish whole flats  with whats left out. Sofas, tables, chairs, china and crockery items, tv's, bedding, clothes, bathroom items, whatever.

It's nice to see it recycled.

We took an antique cabinet outside to clean and take photos to put on ebay. Took the photos, went inside to get the young guys to carry it back inside and  we saw a ute take off up the road with the cabinet in the back.  Less than 5 minutes it was left unattended.

That's bad freaki.. was that the end of it, you never got it back?

It is good things get recycled that is why I put them out earlier so people can take them before the council does.

No, He was fast.  I think he saw me cleaning it and waited for his moment. He was working on a new house getting build across the road. Just the one day cleaning the yard.  I was not impressed.
