do you remember a time when it was a better place to live

I remember when news agents had a stand out the front

with Papers under a rock

You took a Paper and left the money on the stand

Now days they would steal the money, the papers and the stand

and throw the rock through the window as they were running away

How very insulting and cowardly of you to attack me because you don't like my opinion. Just because it differs from yours it does not invalidate what I have to say - nor does the fact that this id was registered yesterday mean I am here to cause trouble. I see others here register an id and are quickly accepted, based on the fact others here know who they are and share their opinions.

I am not going anywhere so you better get used to it. As for not replying to my comment, not a problem - I have no interest in talking to you again. I can also assure you that I have not known you your entire life and have no wish to.

It still is, and it also means happy.

Yes, because gay men are happy not to be nagged by women!

Polks

No, some find the word gay offensive, some don't. Same with the words I use.

You cant have it both ways, you just have to accept the fact different words have different meanings to different people.

I suppose in Qld they used the term banana bender instead ?

I never use the word in any other context.  My dictionary remains intact.

In the 1970s a common term for a male homosexual was "guy".  That is how they were described in personal ads when seeking each other.

What a load of rubbish! "Guy" was used to describe their gender and the sex they were after (like all straight ads) - not a euphemism for "gay."

I am also surprised you would have been perusing the "gay wanted" ads - the 70's mustn't have been a very exciting time for you!

I remember when we used to eat Gaytime ice cream.

Ride every where on our bikes and had to be home by tea time.

Leave the front and back doors open to get a bit of breeze through the house in the summer.

Walk to school not get driven by parents.

And food that tasted like food, real cream and butter

There still is gaytime icecream - it's delicious!

Which is what I said in my earlier post.

Different era's, different cultures, different places, all assign different meanings to words.

Which doesn't change the fact that in the late 1960s to 70s the term was "guy" in ads.  The other term was homosexual, and that was not allowed to be used in ads.  The silly term "gay" did not appear until well after that.

Another load of rubbish. A guy placing an ad looking for another guy is just that. "Guy" was not then nor has ever been a euphemism for "gay". Please don't talk about subjects you have no knowledge on.

That makes sense.  I do recall a time when males hated to be referred to as guys.
