do you remember a time when it was a better place to live

I remember when news agents had a stand out the front

with Papers under a rock

You took a Paper and left the money on the stand

Now days they would steal the money, the papers and the stand

and throw the rock through the window as they were running away

Best too hand ball jobs like that..Vic.

In my early teens--"stove pipe "daks were the go.

Have a pair of expensive black trousers.

Old mum would not -do the job on them.

So while she was shopping--pegged down both legs

and cut off the edges--turned them inside out-

used her sewing machine.....disaster-looked like a wetsuit.

When the old man got home from work-found out a razor

strop had more uses than sharpening razors............................Richo.

I was offered a very lucrative job recently doing clothing alterations....................  however, I turned it down after not sleeping on it overnight, lol. It gave me bad memories of customers....... now that the family business has been sold, I vowed never to deal with customers again!

The customer is always right (even when they are wrong)

I tried, so have given it a go. Kind of had to with the military, you had to sew your own buttons on out bush LOL

Was so bad at sewing, I walked around with split trousers for a week on exercise LOL. Anyway, by the end of it they "stood up against the wall by themselves" they were that smelly and dirty LOL

When I went to high school we had to do home economics and sewing was part of it. It's just another machine that basically uses similar motor skills as driving a motor vehicle
