Treasurer Chris Bowen confirms Government will scrap carbon tax for floating price

The Federal Government has confirmed it will scrap the carbon tax and move to an emissions trading scheme.

Treasurer Chris Bowen has confirmed the decision will cost several billion dollars.

He says cabinet has approved a plan to move to an emissions trading scheme next year, a year earlier than originally planned.

The fixed carbon price of $24.15 a tonne will be removed in favour of a floating price, thought to be between $6 and $10 a tonne.

Mr Bowen says the Government will keep the carbon tax compensation package for families, but has told Channel 10 there will be spending cuts in other areas to pay for the change.

"We understand very much the cost-of-living concerns in the community," he said.

"We understand that deeply, and any revenue decisions we make will have that front of mind.

"I think that will be clear when we announce the details in coming days."

Poddy these people on here like lemmings, they  would follow KDUDD over a cliff. He can do no wrong in their EYE and like I said if he announced that he was making himself the one and only dictator of Australia like the sheep they are on here they would support him and follow him to hell singing his praise.

It wont take long for the real people of Australia (the smart ones) to wake u to the smoke and mirrors from the DUDD but the myopic DUDD/Labor supporters on here are all wearing their eye patch and will still be fawning over every word he utters.

What policies does KDUDD have shuggy? 

More stupid spending, more debt, more boats, more taxes to pay for his failed policies, more failed business, etc etc...

If I remember correctly your beloved labor party didnt release its policies until a week or so before the election..... BUT thats OK with you isnt it shuggs

And as we simply dont have any money left what policies would you like Tiny to have... At least he knows how to balance a budget

Shuggs tell me this, would you run your business  and drive it into massive debt the way labor has run this country. Would you run your house hold the same way shuggs.

Also why would Tony release any policies as DUDD will simply say that they were his idea and use them and he will do what he did ig 07, policy by popularity.

So let the DUDD have a back bone and call an election......
