That is why you just use them to go to the shop and then put them in ziplock bag.  You can wash the washable ones, and you can iron them with hot irot.  The others you can hang in the sun for a while, and leave them in ziplock bag for several days before using them again.  Ideally, we should have fresh disposable mask each time, but in many places even nurses and doctors re-use theirs.

Not a professional practise but for home use you can deactivate  covid-19 causing viruses by heating the mask to 70 degrees C for 20 minutes to dry them out permanently, then keep using the mask with confidence - better than no mask

I put them in a casserole dish with lid , which has been preheated to 70-75 degrees C in the oven

I use a digital infrared temp device to confirm temperatures

There is an in depth decussion from a Chinese blog about this elsewhere in this forum.

( I have found the Chinese to be surprisingly realistic and practical and open with information, so been a good source of information )

Or own 8 masks and rotate usage daily - with the others in quarantine to time out the any viruses , you might bag a few flu and cold viruses as well !

Should we be wearing face masks in public during the coronavirus pandemic? Can a cloth mask protect you against COVID-19?
