Food safety standards require burgers to be cooked. As the meat is ground the pathogens that cause food poisoning are inserted into the middle of the patty. It is all well and good to kill yourself at home with a medium rare burger but no food place wants their customers to die they tend not to come back and buy more

As for maccas shakes they contain nitrocellulose. It was used to make the first film for movie cameras. If it sounds a bit like something you would get by chemically treated a tree trunk that's because it is.

Talking of Maccas drinks, try the Mango drink - I think it is like a frozen smoothie or something.

Awesome taste.

I did know that. A few months ago they were advertizing that fact. Maybe too much contaminated meat already hit the shelves to have it recalled? But if they must cook it well why do they bother asking each time? I'm always tempted to ask, but don't want to ruffle the feathers of anyone cooking my food.

I really like it medium well, but get it well over done....cooked till there isn't any pink. I started asking for it medium rare...no difference. Cooked till it pretty dry.

I liked your info on the potato thread. The things I learn here, and I do soak it in. I plan on making extreme changes in my diet. I think my downfall is processed foods, bread, and soda. I'm a healthy 210 pounds, but as I get older I can see changes. I'm buying a scale to see how much weight I lose by just cutting out soda....and then running other experiments. Still considered thin, so I'll need to offset the weight loss by eating better foods and more of it. Maybe add free weights to the mix.

Maybe I'll post a thread for advice and see how it goes.

Soda is really bad. I was addicted to sarsaparilla. Potatoes and bread. Became a diabetic. Refined sugar is really just yummy poison. Fat has been blamed for all our health problems but people were thinner and healthier when we ate butter and cooked in lard. The food industry has reduced the fat in everything and increased the sugar. Now we are all fat and unhealthy. Sugar has an industry that promotes it no end much to our detriment, fat doesn't. When we lived in caves we are fat and only had access to sugar through fruit that only was around for a very short time. We needed that sugar to get through the lean times. Now we have no lean time

Agree with that. Sugar and anything with a lot of it in it.

I am overweight due to Sugar - but healthy. GF made me get a complete check by the doc but was **bleep** off

when everything was good - BP, etc.

I am liable for diabetes so we will see what happens in the future.

 I was addicted to sarsaparilla.

That's it, I must be addicted to it. Because I left an open can sitting on the counter and the smell that came from it the next day smelled like poison...yet I open another can anyway.

We have some good farm stands here on the Island...I really need to take advantage of them. It's just so time consuming and I'll need to go 2 or 3 times a week. I'm determined to make happen by spring. The soda gone within a month, I just want get a scale first, Christmas shopping.

I am currently addicted to the Bundaberg brews - especially the Guava and the Coconut and Pineapple !
Can drink 4 of them an hour.
