I am appauled this has happened. Apparently he brought both on his private plane without declaring them and so avoiding quarantine. It looks like he will be allowed to send them home rather than being destroyed but I really think he should cop a massive fine .I cannot believe that he was unaware that we do not allow them
I hope they are healthy
He has really lost my support on this although apparently 2000 pepople have signed a change petition to allow them to stay....IDIOTS

The law is for every one, Movie stars and Football players are not exempt, some times I do wonder at that.
Think they are treated better then the ordinary people.
Read the post, FGS. You'd have someone put down, Indonesian style, for this offence?

The point he was making is that Barnaby is a govt minister not a radio shock jock and as such should have used more appropriate language and diplomacy.
The actual point is that even if you've been voted the world's sexiest man TWICE doesn't give you the right to bypass the laws of the country you are entering.
Animal quarantine laws in Australia apply to everyone.
Even manimals like Kyle Sandilands.
No, the point Kyle Sandilands was making is that Barnaby Joyce should use language fitting of a Minister of the Australian Government, not as a radio shock jock.
KS agreed that the quarantine rules should have been followed and was making the point about the minister, not about Depp.
I do not need you to rewrite my comments thanks.

Ah, I don't think we put down movie stars or football players.

No, the point is that Sandilands was using the language of a Shock Jock to cement his reputation as a Shock Jock, while Joyce was using plain english, because Mr Depp obviously needed to have it put to him in that manner, so he understood that he just can't stuff his animals into a duffel bag and walk past Aus Customs like they were a bunch of hillbillys to be disregarded.
In fact, he could face a hefty fine if customs can show he deliberately tried to circumvent customs by bringing his dogs in.
It gets worse. US customs may deny the dogs re-entry re their own quarantine laws.
Oh. And. Why would I rewrite your comments?

Did you listen to the exchange?
Obviously not or you would know it was about how Barnaby spoke not about the dogs presence in Australia as Sandilands agreed that the rules should have been followed.
Who said Depp put the dogs in a duffel bag and snuck them past customs. He obviously wasn't trying to hide them or he would not have openly taken the dogs to the pet groomers and given permission for the pet groomers to take the photo and post it on social media.
At this stage we don't know if it was Depp's crew at fault or customs at the airport.

I heard it on the grapevine that they were shipped in to eradicate the cane toad.
Customs let them through. They are myxomatosis free.

The article I read this morning, stated the dogs had been brought off the plane not in an open fashion, but in a bag or bags. Taking them to the groomers etc. could well be a case of once they are in, they're in.
It also said that due to this breach of customs, private plane passengers may be made to go through the regular checks at airport terminals here. Be made to mingle with the mere mortals. A change in their treatment...if they don't respect the rules, fair enough.

The dogs are pure-bred terriers. I'm sure they have had all of their immunizations. Getting them back home should not be a problem. After-all.. they just came from a country that doesn't have rabies.
I'd say the chances of those two little dogs having rabies is nearly zero.
My step-daughter immigrated to OZ 5 years ago, and they had to leave their dog in Scotland with her Sister-in-law. The cost, and the quarantine laws made it impossible to take their family dog. Marley would have died from the trauma of the event.
I'm happy that Depp has taken the matter seriously enough to fly home with his dogs. I wonder if he will fly back to finish the film, or insist on filming somewhere else?
