ketchup or sauce?

When I had my vegie garden up and running, and had an abundance of tomatoes, every year I made 'tomato sauce'

But now, I think I really made ketchup.  It was thick and spicy/sweet

I prefer my home made sauce whatever it is    big grin smiley.gif

Tomato sauce is more sweet.

Ketchup is more spicy.

I prefer Ketchup, tomato sauce is too sweet for me.

I also prefer whole egg mayo, the others are too vinegary.

They should be calling it what it is....only the company knows what they are making and should call it hat it is.

I think there is more to Ketchup than Tomato Sauce.

Not as tomatoey - lol - with other hidden spices ours does not have.

Different and both good.

The biggie is vinegar, usually red wine vinegar. And a dash of anchovy paste in real ketchup. Garlic, salt, black pepper and the vinegar is what makes it.

The anchovy part of it, for home made tomato sauce is adding Worcestershire Sauce

(called 'Where's ya sister sauce' by my grandson)     It's Woostersheer
