the answering service comes with my internet (voip) provider
im currently using a simple landine phone, it doesnt indicate any messages.. you have to dial in to check
im looking for a corded phone with a built in answering machine thats compatible to voip internet
any suggestions,? so it indicates ive got a message...like an envelope icon or something, anything that lets me know ive recieved one?

i do have a mobile home phone handset atm, had to change the batterys for it once, which i thought made the device unreliable
corded or cable in my mind would make it reliable to make and recieve calls anytime
It probably won't work if the power is off, unless you have a battery backup system.

@ca04 wrote:As you say you are using a standard phone then any message recording phone will work.
when you have a call it will answer as per normal, if you don't ,and the caller will leave a message on it.
On reflection the software will not monitor a standard phone but would monitor a VOIP device.
i did contact my provider before i opened this thread
they reckoned if i want a phone with a built in answering machine its gotta to be voip compatible
i 'spose any simple phone will work (mine does) but an in-bulit ans m. wont if its not voip compatible

i was unaware of this option, i 'spose i can
What type of service do yoou have?
iinet naked dsl -1
Do you plug the phone into your phone socket or do you plug it into a voip device?
the phone is plugged straight into the modem
Do you have a BoB modem/router? Just curious 😄
As it plugs into that any voip compatible phone should be fine.
I'm fairly sure you can log into your iinet account and set it up to send a sms or email when
there are missed calls and messages. You can also direct calls to your mobile if and when you wish, or use an app on a mobile for voip calls.
iinet tried to sell me a BoB but im looking at the cheapest way out
mine is the most simplest of modems (belkin, it was supllied by them too..way back
yes im going to go into toolbox or whereever it is, to make a few temporary adjustments

You don't need a gigaset if your modem/router has inbuilt voip and mine is way cheaper than the C610 if you did need one 😄

Are you not using voip already?
Sorry, I was confused. I thought you must have been already using a voip phone and need to replace it because you don't get your messages. Now I'm just confused 😄
My gigaset is cheaper than MM's gigaset and I thought you wanted cheaper, if you need the whole works.

yes it is a voip internet system
no i got any old phone hooked up which any old phone can be rigged (it doesnt have to be voip compatible) with the net providers answering service
it all works, always have done
i just want a system where it elerts me that i got a message, an indication of some kind
saves the hassle of dialling it thru, for example; if i go out for 15 minutes down the shops.. i have no idea if theres a recorded message.
dig? lol

If your Belkin has voip built in you only need a voip campatible phone not a whole voip setup which includes and ATA box.
At home I use one of these
at work I use another router and don't need the box with blue light in top photo of product images. I think the iinet Belkin is similar and will work any compatible phone. You could do a search to find out what phones work best with that router. Or check out whirlpool for comments.
