lyndal1838 . . . A tribute thread

On behalf of several members, and Lyndal’s family, it is with great sadness that we wish to inform the eBay community of the recent passing of member lyndal1838.

Lyndal was a prolific poster on these eBay boards. She amassed thousands upon thousands of purchases on eBay.  Through her buying experiences she was able to help thousands of members in their time of need when an eBay transaction went pear shaped.

Even though Lyndal was not a seller she was very informed on seller issues through remaining up to date with eBay policies and procedures.

Many of us here keep our real life experiences private and do not discuss them in any great detail.  Lyndal was not one to keep her life experiences totally private.  She used her real life experiences to help others and often posted of her experiences in the courier industry. She often used her experiences in managing matters related to GST, ABN and other business issues, international money exchange, international posting and PayPal to name but a few. She referenced her family experiences when posting on animal issues, particularly where horses were concerned.

You always knew where you stood with Lyndal.  This lead to some gruff exchanges with some members and it is fair to say that some members took issue with Lyndal's posting style.  However, it is also fair to say that Lyndal never set out to upset or offend anyone.

Many years ago, Lyndal's ID on these boards started showing her as an "Honored Contributor" . . . much to her amusement.  It was not a title that sat well with Lyndal.  She only ever considered herself a "Community Member" like the rest of us.

Farewell Lyndal (lyndal1838)

Re: lyndal1838 . . . A tribute thread

k1ooo, I'm so glad that you posted this thread.

I had heard through a message about the terrible news.

I too can thank lyndal for her comforting words during my loss last year. (Several people on these boards have given me much-appreciated emotional support since that time, and I will never cease to be thankful.) lyndal was among them, and she and I had some good conversations.

I will always regret that I never met with her in person, but I wonder if she's reorganising heaven's courier service. "No, not via doves to that family," she might say. "They've got dove-eating cats. No, we'll have to outsource this delivery of blessings to ChristmasStarCourier."

She was blunt, honest, knowledgeable, helpful, strong in her opinions, quick to see a joke, and prolific in her posting.

I will miss her very much.

Thank you Chris for this thread.

I was concerned earlier in the year, with her absence,  but Padi assured me that Lyndal was having computer problems and that she would return when it was all sorted.

And she did.

Unfortunately it was not for long and her disappearance was once again noticed.

But I thought perhaps it was computer problems again.  I was saddened to learn of her passing.

There will be many of us who will miss her wit and expertise in helping other members.

Hope she, Richo and PJ are having a right old knees up together.

thank you countess for the StarTrack emoji. The poster who showed it to me thought it would be fitting to include it in the Opening Post of this thread.

It's good to see it being used for that purpose. lyndal might also like this one: Australia Post mail van

Any emoticon that I've made is welcome to be used, by the way.

Lyndal was one of the very best.
I am deeply saddened by the news that she has passed.
We both came to the boards around the same time, approx 15yrs ago, and we soon became eBay friends. I had a lot of respect for her and she was a wealth of wisdom, knowledge and compassion. ….. and ….. like me, she didn’t suffer fools lightly! 😆

I never met her, but she always made you feel you had been friends for years and years! That’s the sort of person she was, a true friend.

I hope that Lyndal is at peace and free from all of life’s turmoils.

Rest In Peace my friend.  You are dearly missed.
