Does anyone else say "White Rabbits" on the first of the month? According to my dad, it was supposed to bring you good luck if that was the first thing you said when you woke up on the first of the month . As kids we always tried - and usually failed - to remember, but nobody elseI've asked  seems to have heard of the tradition and I'm wondering where it came from - or if he just made it up.

We used to say "Rabbits, rabbits, rabbits"  for good luck

Thanks Stawka. so it wasn't just our family being a bit crazy!

My dad spent three years as a POW in Italy and Germany and managed to keep a secret diary during all that time. In spite of all  his troubles he still managed to record proudly on 1st June 1944 "Remembered to say 'White Rabbits" this morning. " I guess it must have worked for him because five days later came D Day. Smiley LOL

I bet after all these years your name still sounds better with his last name added to it.

My maiden name was Cornes,  so I was quite happy to change it. but not as happy as my sister was when she married - she is a podiatrist! Smiley LOL

My Dad - just had to sit and wait on Crete - not enough to evacuate them.

He spent 4 years as a ' guest of the german government ' - the toll was enormous.

I do TGSE .... and I did yesterday lol.  Don't remember where it came from but perhaps it was from my English Dad.

Remembering to do it was always touch and go growing up and I can remember feeling crestfallen when I forgot Smiley Frustrated

Rest assured your Dad did not just make it up lol
