question for the gardeners

I thought hippeastrums flowered late spring into summer. So why have a few of mine started to flower now. I planted them about 3-4 months ago.

Re: question for the gardeners

I've only got some miniature ones in my garden Karen and I just leave them in the ground until they get too crowded then I divide them up. I do cut the stems off at the base when they go brown though.

No worries Karen, sorry I don't know more. Your climate is probably a bit different to mine

Re: question for the gardeners

Karen, just leave them in the ground, like Deb said. I never lift mine and they flower year after year. When they have finished flowering, dont cut off the green stalks, just let them completely die down.

Re: question for the gardeners

Thanks purple. They're the first flowers I've ever successfully grown and they were from the reject shop ๐Ÿ˜„

I couldn't believe when they flowered! So I hope they flower again next spring.
