I'm fine with worshipping cats, they deserve it. I am not an acolyte at present, but will be again very soon. Now ferrets, that is a different story. I loved my husband more than my own life, but his ferrets went home with my children when my husband passed on, we just didn't like each other. Now I have bats instead,we like each other. And they're happy with living outside. At least so far.

I just watched the Melbourne Cup....and every one of those horses was whipped all the way home.
Hasn't this barbaric practice been outlawed yet?

I wonder how many jockeys would like to cop 1,000 lashes from a rattan, on a regular basis? Yet, they think it's acceptable to whip a horse to within an inch of its life. I grew up on horses. I NEVER once used a whip of any kind. Seeing people that did really upset me.
I also had a horse that broke a fetlock. Same as the horse that was murdered today. It took time, but he recovered. Racehorse trainers aren't interested in helping the horse recover. It's easier to shoot them and claim the insurance. No concern for the horse whatsoever. It's all about money.
It's time this barbaric "sport" was banned. Not riding horses in general, there is a place for that. What needs to be stopped is the abuse in the racing industry.
Most of the horses imported from overseas to race, never go home because the costs are prohibitive. If the winner today goes home it will be a miracle. Most will find themselves in a kill pen inside a week.
