What is this new thing where members think it's fine and dandy to tell other members they are "off topic"?
This entire BOARD is off topic.
The rules haven't changed since 2009. They state:
"Grounds for immediate post/thread removal, board sanction and/or eBay suspension
The following types of postings are cause for immediate post removal, warning, board sanction and/or suspension from the site. Other inappropriate postings not listed below may also warrant removal and/or suspension from the site. eBay reserves the right to remove any post without warning or further notice.
Posts that do not relate to the discussion board's topic(s)."
See up there where it says "topic(s)".
Posts that do not relate to TOPICS of the discussion BOARD are not allowed.
It doesn't state that THREADS are not allowed to be off topic.
It states that posts that do not relate to the discussion board's TOPICS are not allowed.
As this board has no specific topic being off topic is actually posting within the board rules.

That doesn't mean the CS board as a whole either. Each thread has a topic, if the topic is tags and you want to talk about Australian politics in that thread... then that is off topic.
I don't know why people think because CS is for non-ebay topics (general topics about anything) that equates to you can post about what ever you feel like in any thread, no matter what the topic of that particular thread is.
yep, my tune thread was invaded with many many unwanted off topic posts, i couldnt do anything about it coz previous moderation didnt enforce their own rules. I am optimistic with the new moderation in their opproach to off topic posts or threads on any board now though.

I recon most threads that get past 50 posts are likely to go off topic............

According to the OP and friends muggsy, there are no off topic posts.. so post away about anything you want.

iza - is it fair game to bring posters children into discussions when the poster hasn't mentioned them at all?

Posters that protesteth loudest about perceived wrongs, often do the very same things themselves they are protesting about.

There is no rule WHATSOEVER stating that threads are not allowed to go off topic.
So go and get yourself a **bleep**ing job as a moderator. You may as well get paid for posting on this board 24/7.
