William Rodriguez was the last man out as the 9/11 Tower collapsed killing thousands of people as it came straight down at free fall speed. William was the main janitor for the building. He worked at the building for twenty years. 10 years as janitor for the Governor's office in the building. He knew many of the people that kept the building running who died that day. He was late that day otherwise he would have been at the employee restaurant at the top of the building with his friends who died there.
William was the only person who had the keys to the fire escape stairs. He opened up the doors for the firemen to go up into the building as people were coming down.
He was in the first floor of the 6 floor basement of the tower at 8:46am when a massive explosion blew up on a floor below. Minutes later the plane hit the building and many other explosions happened after the plane hit. He helped hundreds of people out of the building before it came down.
William Rodriguez was on all the national and world media non-stop the day of 9/11 and for several days after 9/11. He has traveled all over the country and world explaining what he saw during 9/11.
William help write legislation and raise millions of dollars for the victims. He worked with the victims families to make sure a representative of the 9/11 victims families was on the 9/11 commission. No representative of the 9/11 victims families was allowed on the 9/11 commission.
William Rodriguez was the last person to testify at the 9/11 hearings. Many of the firemen and others he knew who saw what happened were not allowed to testify to the commission. The 9/11 hearings were broadcast on national TV. William Rodriguez was required to testify in closed session. The final 9/11 report did not include his testimony.
