referendum to recognise local government

I think I agree with Abbott on this one.

Can someone enlighten me as to why it is a good idea? Or doesn't it matter?

local government associations think it matters. the libs thought it matters too (before the usual 'we can wedge with this' took over) both paries supported it.. before.

The coalition seem divided on quite a few issues don't they?

Nero is told what to think, we'll see what he can come up with pct 😄

Abbott is probably right in this case, if you don't understand it don't vote for it, seems that a lot of his supporters have trouble understanding a lot of things lol

This 'loss of support' by the Coalition couldn't have anything to do with the chain email doing the rounds at the moment, which says that a "Yes" vote will lead to Sharia Law being introduced into several local government areas in Australia, now could it?

(The email, of course, completely ignores the fact that Local Government does not have, and never has had, and is not anticipated to have, a legislative role.)

I didn't know about the email Lakeland. That would certainly instill some fear tactics.
