Hi I am expecting and have had severe insomnia and sleep issues since about six or more weeks back.I've had to resort to some drugs and am worried...
does anybody know of any natural things that I can take or any other ideas.I initially fall asleep but wake 15 or 20 mins later and lie awake for age therafter.I live in Brisbane and don't know where to go to get help.I'v e been given a cd of "mindfulness" exercises but they never work:( by some psychologist who say to just say get over it....
does anybody know of somebody good in the Brisbane area who can help with sleep issues..either a clinic or a doctor who has gotten results

There is also Valerian which is a herbal extract. I don't know about taking it during pregnancy but it is also used for depression.

I think you should go back to your doctor and demand a referral to a psychologist or psychiatrist with experience in treating pregnant women. I wouldn't use any over the counter remedies, until you've gotten some professional advice

The more upset and stressed you become over this the worse it will get.

That's interesting. There was just a kids science programme on tv and an expert was discussing sleep problems and how to tweak your sleep patterns.
Apparently a lack of sunlight can cause disturbances in sleep, especially morning sunlight for some reason. Lack of enough sunlight can affect people more in winter. They were using green light to the eyes to treat patients because it gives off the good part of sunlight and not the full spectrum. Sorry, I missed most of it, it just caught my attention.
Is there a nice area at home where you can sit outside every day for a while and maybe read a book or something?
