Twas walking through Woollies yesterday and saw in the distance some  strange objects.

My heart thudding I increased my pace.

And  found   ..... 6 packets of toilet paper.

The first I've seen for 2 months.

I was so excited I nearly dribbled.

Quilton  8 pkts for around $7 but I wasn't arguing.

Best thing that's happened to me for ages

(sad isn't it)

You need to get there around opening time or ask a friendly looking staff member when they will be repacking the shelves.

I am finding sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.

Last wednesday I was at the shops at 7am and not a pack of loo paper to be seen on the shelves.

I shopped again on Saturday morning in Coles & Aldi. Aldi doesn't even have a shelf for it anymore.

I will roll up again tomorrow and try my luck. My problem is I am trying to supply a daughter with some too as there is none in her area either, so that's 7 of us i need to buy for.

On a good note, Aldi had arborio rice. First time I have seen any on the shelf for a couple of weeks (Coles had none).

But Coles did have some baker's flour. Unfortunately only in the 5.5 kg pack. I hummed and haared but decided to strike while the iron is hot.Smiley Happy

We have plenty of 'loo paper so I haven't been looking. I think the panic-buying is abating, althought it's still hard to get handwash, and there is no flour or cake mix on the shelves.

The only pasta on the shelves is the Vegan pasta, and it's not moving. I guess nobody's desperate enough for Vegan pasta. Yet.

I am trying to minimize my trips to the supermarket, just like most people. So I asked one of the more senior (and friendly) staff members if I could ring the store once in a while to ask if the shelves have been re-packed, or when they are likely to be. While the person looked a bit uncomfortable, he said I could. I have only rung a couple of times and while their replies have been a bit cryptic, the helpful messages were received.

Oh dear.   All pasta is vegan, unless it's labelled 'egg pasta'.

All dried pasta is made from just flour, mostly semolina flour, and water.

Unless, like I said, it's labelled specifically 'egg pasta'

More stupid people around than I realised.

I guess vegan pasta would be made without egg. Not that I'd know how to make pasta. But I always thought the egg was involved.

Home made pasta usually involves eggs.

But you can make it without.

I hope it never comes to that.

a.) having to make pasta at home.

b.) having to make it without eggs

c.) having no eggs anyway

d.) having no flour anyway

e.) having no water

Unthinkable up til now...

LOL - you bibbled a bab full.

Whole-Wheat Pasta. Most purchased dry whole-wheat pastas do not contain eggs. You'll find that the majority of these pastas, including lasagna, spaghetti, fettucine and penne are vegan, and suitable for individuals with egg allergies.

You don't have to buy whole-wheat pasta.

Dry pasta is made from finely ground semolina flour, salt, and water – it usually has no eggs, which means it's more vegan-friendly. The two ingredients are mixed into a paste, which is pushed through molds and cut into a multitude of pasta shapes!
