thanksgiving in Australia

Sarah Jane is on ABC news saying we should have thanksgiving here. Aren't we inundated with enough pseudo American culture already

Re: thanksgiving in Australia

Thanks for that false comparison j*oono.

You get the Godwin award. 🙂

In the pic on the left, those kids were not immigrants, waiting for their status to be determined before being allowed entry into a country, as the kids in the pic on the right are.

I agree that the incarceration of children is repugnant in any circumstance, but your implied equivalence is mistaken.

The ultimate destinations of those two groups of children was/is quite different.

Re: thanksgiving in Australia

I think that it's repugnant that you even make the comparison.    In both pics they are children and it had nothing to do with them.

In both photos they are children.  Just children born into this world.

Re: thanksgiving in Australia

I suppose I did.  Sorry.  So do you think it is their fault?

Either way, I don't think I deserve the Godwin award.  Give that to Scott Morrison.

Re: thanksgiving in Australia

No, it is not the fault of the children. I find the incarceration of immigrants awaiting definiton of their status to be inhumane.

I can see a case for temporay protection visas. I can also see the problems that a child would face if they were allowed into the community for some months (years?) only to be sent back later from whence they came.

It's a problem. while we know that some asylum seekers have a genuine case, it is also true that some do not, but are trying to rort the system.

What do we do with all of them while we sort out their claims? The present "solution" does send a message to those who aren't genuine refugees, but it sure is very hard on those who are.

That would be the myth that no woman has ever declared war

It was right there above my comment but don't let reading and comprehending get in the way of a good argument

As for Maggie being the greatest human to ever grace this planet I along with all the others that despised her must have missed interpreted her actions. For that I am truly sorry and will love her till the day I die

Boris, the U.S. has this horrible tradition called Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving, people trample over each other to buy things at a discount. Some stores open tonight, and let the crazies in to spend money all night long, and into Black Friday.

I recently read that Black Friday was originally a day where slaves were sold at a discount, so that farmers could buy extra slaves for the hard winters.

😞

Day of Mourning... indeed.

You might want to read this then

A day late.. a dollar short. 😉

Maybe a third poster can come along and correct me again? 😛

Well I'll keep it rolling then. Even the post above is a little out of line Imo, it would be nice for everyone to have the day off, but it doesn't work that way. For the so called crazies you refer too, for some people who don't earn hi wages, this is a chance for them to maybe buy items for family/kids they otherwise could not afford. What we need to explain to our Aussie friends here, whether it matters to them or not. On Black Friday, you can get some phenomenal deals. On some products less than half price, or even better. From TV's too toys.

"Give that to Scott Morrison"

OK, since you bought current politics into the mIx.

So you don't like Scott Morrison.

So does that mean you support people like Sarah two dads, that brainless green who is always on the outrage bus

but has NO care whatsoever, just like Labor over how many people drowned ?

Which was over 1000.

By stopping the boats, they stopped the drownings - as well as the "Country shoppers".

Now, re children in custody, if you do you research, you might find that their are LESS Children in cusody now than when labor was in power.

I'll find an article that summarises it.

Oh, and it was Labor who opened all the Processing centres.

You are just like most lefties, never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

i suppose you are like Sarah Two dads (Hanson Young)  who gets a FACTICIOUS TV Show about the Royal Navy

and thinks it is reality !!!! Doh.
