Debra, the book is from the folio society, it's not old but made in the old school style, lovely quality.

Laney, you are right! Luckily google says that the Belladonna Lily is also known as a Naked Lady lily so I'm glad I didn't just make that up 😄

Joono, are they poisonous?

I'm not sure Boris but possibly. The land owners keep sheep on that property and the sheep won't touch them. They are after my Mulberry tree instead.

yep. belladonna lilles are also known as naked ladies.I love them and I have a pale pink, deep pink and a rare white one. Oddly the different colurs don't flower at the same time. always a few weeks apart.
but agapthas are pretty good too
'
hardl to tell from the leaves alone I love the way belladonnas appear like triffids from the soil
I am using a wreless keyboard here, and every now and then it chuks a wobbly

Are you perhaps thinking of atropa belladonna?
Different plant I think

Around here they are called the resurrection lily (Lycoris squamigera). All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested.
