This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic ๐
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation
Solved! Go to Solution.

While I was looking for moose related artwork, and playing around wth the cardboard cut-out pieces of the pattern that I had (thereby proving that the laws of physics and my enthusuasm really don't run on the same track, ha ha) I was thinking about what else could be moose-ified.
It's a "rusticallly charming" toy, but with a little work two bears playing tug of war could become a more sophisticated (less hastily put together, ha ha ) two meece with a Christmas cracker... It's an idea...
"From one idea springs many, and then I have to go and find a new notebook".

That's okay ecar, the fun of it can be the thinking of it and how it might work, even if it can't ...

And I thought it was going to be one of those 'not much happened' afternoons.
Like I could ever say that, while there's birds around, ha ha.
That not quite salmon pink galah...
The one that walked up to within a foot of me, bold as brass, and demanded to be fed...
The one that followed me around...
The one that jumped up on the table, next to me, when I showed him that the food was there...
He's a cheeky little man, ha ha.
I was less than arm's length from him, and no, I didn't reach out to him to pat him, or offer a finger for him to hop onto.
He might seem very tame, and friendly, but common sense says that no matter how tame, or friendly he might seem to be, he's a wild animal and I really don't want to spend the afternoon reeking of dettol and trying to find band aids that aren't so far past their use by date that they no longer stick.

Did you come up with a bandaid solution for your non-sticking bandaids?

Believe it or not, electrical tape.
It's not pretty, but it is about the right width for fingers.
Thinking about it, it could be pretty, if you bought one of those five roll packs in different colours, I suppose, ha ha.
Gaffer tape is too wide for fingers, and sticky tape is about as much use as using a manual eggbeater to pave a driveway.
It's a bandaid solution for a bandaid solution.

The cockatoos took it upon themselves to examine this solar light more closely...
I noticed that the plastic case on the underside was missing - perhaps not really missing, after all they had left it lying on the ground under the light, ha ha.
On the underside is a tapered, a sort of conical outer case, and inside that there's a cylindrical case.
Both lock in place with lugs, and take a 1/3 turn to undo.
In order to remove it, the bird had to have climbed down the chains, and then reached around underneath the base of the outer case.
There's a groove in the base of the outer case that it can grip with it's beak, otherwise it's smooth plastic and too big to get a grip on.
I can imagine it dangling, upside down, and still managing to get a hold on the base of the plastic case, then twisting it, moderately firmly, to release it.
Having done that, no doubt it repeated the procedure with the smaller, and probably easier to grip inner case.
And because they were of no further interest, let them fall to the ground.
The ways they find to entertain themselves are seeming boundless, ha ha.

Just as it was getting on for dark I noticed that one of the bridges looked a bit out of alignment.
I thought it'd only take a minute or two to temporarily fix it.
Which is how I found myself standing on a box.
On uneven ground.
In the dark.
At the intersection of three bridges.
One leading away, in front of me.
One over my right shoulder, that I was attempting a hasty repair upon.
And the third bridge running behind me.
To the possum house...
I could hear her walking up the bridge towards me...
Razor sharp, scimitar curved claws clicking, softly on the timber...
I could hear her breathing...
And Suddenly!
In a tone as soft and alluring as warm honey she said "Hello, Darling...".
No, she didn't, really.
She stopped a little way down the bridge, and snorted at me.
But the bridge is fixed, for now, and in daylight I'll have a closer look at it.

I've had an idea for a comic opera, inspired by the works of Gilbert and Sullivan.
A group of monks, bored with their monastic existence decide to take to the high seas and embark on a life of roguish buccaneering and adventure.
It becomes apparent to them, fairly quickly, that they're not suited to that lifestyle; seasickness and the unpleasantness of the occupation, aside, so they return to their order.
Their Abbot suitably chastises them for their (mis)adventure, and says that they must make amends for their misdeeds.
I'm thinking a working title along the lines of "The Pirates of Penance" sounds good.
