There's an old man cockatoo here this afternoon. He's become a regular.

I should say... All I have to do is say "Old Bird" and he immediately picks up on that - you're talking to me! Ha ha.

In the afternoon rush there's another old bird hanging around on the periphery, a bit shy, a bit new to all of this.

It's a girl, She's a girl, I should say, and in that, a rarity.

A lot of old man birds come by, but I think she's got to be the first old hen I've ever seen.

There's a turn up for the books.

I used to live down the street from a bloke who was always very careful about his language.

In the whole time I knew him I don't think I ever heard him use anything but the most watered down of expletives.

In a neighbourhood where even children were prone to swear fit to make a wharfie blush, he could always express himself in measured tones.

One year I asked him what he'd like for Christmas, he thought about it, then put forward a suggestion.

Being the helpful bloke that I am,  I did my best to fulfil his Christmas wish.

I had to admit to being a little disappointed when he said "Mate, when I said I wanted a flaming mower that's not what I was talking about...".
