Yesterday evening there was a particularly vocal Magpie on my front gate.
It wasn't the usual call. There were bits of Kookaburra thrown in.
Many years ago I heard a Horse whinny in the front yard and when I went to the front door to have a look it was a Magpie

A whinnying magpie... That's a winner, ha ha.

The best I've got is a rainbow lorikeet that does a note by note rising tone, like a mobile phone ringing...

It paused, then did it again, which only confused me further... ha ha...

This afternoon I watched as a wattlebird and two sparrows fought over a piece of bread...

Actually, I don't think they were fighting over the bread so much as squabbling  - "He gave it to Me!"... "No, he gave it to Me!"... ha ha.

They make me wonder, sometimes... ha ha.

I think there was a new possum in the garden last night...

The low, near monotone chuckling and grunting gave it away...

There was none of the usual range of tones, and volume - you really can hear them three blocks away, ha ha.

No, this was all done with someone close by in mind...

"You're in my garden... MY garden... The garden you're not supposed to be in... Do yourself a favour and leave now, or you'll get the grunting and chuckling of a lifetime... And don't make me squeak at you!", ha ha.

He touched so many lives and will be sadly missed.
