the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic ๐Ÿ™‚

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

I toddled down to Aldi and picked up a bag of glow in the dark "pebbles"....

They're roughly three by four centimetre, quarter or so centimetre thick plastic oval shapes...

They pretty much fit in the palm of my hand... pebbles isn't quite the word I would've used, ha ha.

Apparently they're for putting around garden beds, or along the edges of paths.

I had something different in mind....

Something involving double sided sticky tape and the loungeroom ceiling... ha ha.

The light there is on for a good four or five hours, in the evening, so that should "charge" the pebbles nicely...

There's something about the room being bathed with an eerie green glow in the early hours of the morning that amuses me, ha ha.

They came in a kilo bag... A kilo... apparently... but how do I know for sure?

The standard for the kilo used to be set by a big block of metal, in a glass case, in a museum in Paris, but the scientific boffins have decided to shake things up by changing the method of measurement...

Now, it's the number of lies told by a politician in a year, added to the world market value of a gram of boron, times the number of red smarties in a tube of smarties, and then take away the number you first thought of... I'm pretty sure I got that right, ha ha.

I don't know... sometimes this science stuff goes over my head... ha ha.

I got the green "pebbles",  just like the ones in the catalogue...

And when I got there, they had blue ones, too...

Tempting as they were, I stayed firm and took just the green ones...

(I'll probably be back that way mid week, anyway, so I've got a couple of days to think about it... Green and blue...? Hmmm... ha ha).

That's the trouble with Aldi specials, I go in to get one thing and end up leaving with an armload of stuff, and no money left, ha ha.

I'd stick them out in the garden but they'd disappear under a blanket of leaves in no time... ha ha.

Spot the blackbird, named thus because he has a white spot on his wing, likes to forage... Vigorously... ha ha.

That involves moving all the leaves out of the garden bed and onto the path... and sometimes, but not always, back, ha ha.

Decorative borders don't last round here, ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

I get the feeling that the Summer holidays have come... the currawongs have all but gone... ha ha.

A week or two back they were everywhere... and now it's gone a bit quiet.

A pair came by late in the day a couple of days back, stopped, looked over the garden and then disappeared...

There was one, again, late in the day, who stopped by yesterday... and then left, ha ha.

The best I've had today is one half emptying a birdbath...

They'll be off, back to the mountains where they'll form little bands and waylay unsuspecting hikers on lonely bushland trails...

"Give them the muesli bars... Just give them the muesli bars and they'll leave us alone...", ha ha.

And in the week after the first snow comes, they'll be back...

The old, the young, the inbetween... the half blind and the ones with busted legs that I look at and wonder how they make it...

They'll all be back, ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

"Chup-chup" was spoken very softly... and was then immediately followed by a "Wheee!!", shrill, sharp and loud like a referee's whistle, ha ha...

Girl galah has spoken! ha ha.

Saying it once, obviously, didn't get my attention, so she repeated herself...

I thought to myself that it didn't sound like she was over in the garden, so I went to take a look...

No, she wan't over in the garden... she was on the little table opposite the back door...

"Have I got your attention, yet??!", ha ha.

I just have to keep reminding myself that she's a wild animal... She certainly gets wild if she doesn't get her own way... ha ha.

@ ecar #8936: Strange, the link works OK for me. Sometimes videos get blocked by region or country - copyright etc. Your alternate link also works for me. Thanks. (I see your link has 84 million views! - extraordinary...)

Hello, girl magpie, who may or may not be your Mother... ha ha

They look so much alike, now...

Look... I have a convenient sized piece of bread that I can chuck in your general direction...

So I shall... and you'll run towards it, looking interested.... then suddenly veer left and grab that massive earthworm, ha ha.

Well, I'm glad I could guide you in the direction of something more interesting than a bit of bread, ha ha.

I'm glad you're happy... and I know you're happy because you're going to sing for the half hour, and every so often pause to make the beep-beep-beep noise that the answering machine makes when people hang up... ha ha.
