the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic ๐Ÿ™‚

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

I leave the true comments about Trump to YouTube and often they are removed so they've got no hope of being seen here and I'll be banned

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

His heart sank as he thought of the enormous power arrayed against him, the ease with which any Party intellectual would overthrow him in debate, the subtle arguments which he would not be able to understand, much less answer.

And yet he was in the right!

They were wrong and he was right.

George Orwell, 1984.

I matriculated in 1984
We studied the book for English
I never in my wildest dreams ever thought that it would come to fruition especially not in my lifetime
Was asked the other day what level of education I have
When I said I matriculated it was met with incredulation

The more I read of the history of the Europe that my Grandparents grew up in, the more I came to realise that humankind don't learn from their mistakes.

Or perhaps they don't want to... Perhaps they want to be led... And told what to think...

Freedom is, after all, Slavery, under a different name...  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

There's a small mall that I go to fairly regularly.

The owners of the block next to the mall sold the site to developers.

Over a year or so I watched, fascinated, as the several storey apartment block took shape...

And at some point the news stories arose of shonky building practices and the use of second rate materials...

Now, every time I drop by the mall, I cast an eye over the apartments next door... and never park too close... just in case... ha ha...

It hasn't got to this stage, yet...

I suppose that's why the old saying is "As safe as houses", and not "As safe as apartments", ha ha...

There's a dance of unbridled joy that accompanies the refilling of the water dishes...

Sometimes life holds special moments... ha ha...

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

"There could be up to a day of disruption to the service"...

The NBN people, who told me, if I remember correctly, that they were coming in December, have decided that they're coming, instead, this week...

Apparently, all they need is access to the premises...

Had they been coming in December, there would have been a bit of a percent of a chance that I would have tidied up... ha ha...

But this kind of short notice does nobody any favours, so when I tell them that the place is a mess, they'll probably laugh, politely...

Until they see that I'm not kidding... ha ha...

Some of those cobwebs are months old, and so beautiful that I coldn't bring myself to remove them, not now that they have a fine coating of dust on them... ha ha...

I'm sure they'll cope... Isn't binge watching multiple episodes of "Hoarders" themed TV shows all part of their training? ha ha...

I must remember to warn them against going too near the kitchen window, as the sight of a cockatoo plastering itself against the glass, breath clouding the window, while making strange, guttural gurgling noises may at first startle the unwary...  ha ha...

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

Ecar - just explain the cobwebs away as your ' first aid kit '.

Days gone by they used the cobwebs in the stables to bind wounds.

Read that somewhere. lol
