This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

I'll say it's a work in progress... ha ha...
Both spoons still need some more sanding to get the harsher edges, and the odd scratches, here and there, out of the way.
But it's coming along...
Slowly... ha ha...

The apple seeds that I so carefully germinated in the fridge didn't take, once I planted them in the garden.
So much for growing my own fruit trees, ha ha...
Maybe i should have looked them up, online, to see when's a good time to plant them, rather than relying on guesswork... ha ha...
I've been digging the compost-soil out from the base of the compost bin.
It's good, rich, black soil, and hopefully it'll make the base for a veggie garden of sorts, or a flower garden, or, knowing my record with gardening, something'll self seed there, and I'll just let it keep growing, ha ha...
It's a clever idea - putting an access hatch at the base of what looks like a large upended plastic garbage bin.
The only drawback being that there's a lot of back bending to be done, in order to shovel the good soil out...
"It'll be worth it", I keep telling myself, ha ha...
If nothing else, it's full of fat, healthy earthworms, so the local birds are getting a feed...

A story of a long and eventful journey, and one with a happy ending...
Critically endangederd swift parrot released after surviving 600 km journey to Lord Howe island...
Lord Howe did he survive that? ha ha....

I was looking at this ABC News website page and it suggested that if I were to make a three layer mask, there are certain materials that I would need -
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-11/how-to-make-a-mask-coronavirus-covid19-australia/12444996
For an outer layer, water resistant fabric...
Okay, I'll admit it... it got a blank look from me... ha ha...
A bit of quick Googling put me on the right path -
Umbrella material...
Of course, why didn't I think of that? ha ha...
It's a water resistant, breathable material...
I was having horrible visions of having to find a second hand Goretex raincoat, and hack that to pieces... ha ha...
So, that's the Outer layer taken care of.
Then there''s a middle layer, and an inner layer...
For simplicity's sake, it's recommended that the inner layer has to be water absorbent, and breathable - Cotton...
Okay... it looks like it's time to sacrifice one of the old tea towels for a nobler cause, ha ha...
Honestly, though, I think linen would probably do just as well...
But then there's the tricky Middle layer...
A "Blended" fabric....
So, I should take a piece of fabric and give it several turns in a blender?
Perhaps not... ha ha...
Here's a list of Blended fabrics -
There has to Something on that list that will come to hand, easily... ha ha...
At this point, Dear fellow DIYers, I must admit that I cheated, somewhat - I went to the local chemist and bought a packet of paper masks... I might never use them, but then, I might... Who knows... ha ha...
But now, at least, I have the basic template for a a DIY mask, ha ha...
My mission, should I choose to accept it, it is to fashion my own mask from what, as it turns out, are readily available materials...
Keep in mind that it might become all too difficult, and in which case this DIY project will self destruct... ha ha...
Stay well, people.

I was sitting, as is my habit in the late afternoon, on the bench outside as the last rays of sunlight faded.
I was waiting for the familiar sound of Mother possum's claws scratching on the floor of the possum house, as she gets up...
I thought, judging by the light, that I had a few more minutes to wait... she tends to emerge pretty much right on dusk...
For some reason I cast an eye upwards, to the bridge, and there she was, quietly sitting, watching me...
I suppose I'm there every evening, so it only stands to reason that she'd stop to say Good Morning to me, ha ha...

The old man cockatoo didn't turn up at quarter to five, for supper...
I expect that he, like I, was putting our trust in the weather man, and expecting some rain.
Which, if it did come, came in the early hours of the morning...
In the garden bed where I made my ill fated attempt at growing apple seedlings, I've now got a healthy crop of young sunflower seedlings emerging... I don't think they would've been impressed by 25 to 40 mm of rain...
But then again, you never know... ha ha...
All I got was a surprisingly sunny day, and a late visit from two young cockatoos, ha ha...
Two for one... it's not a bad deal, but it doesn't mean I don't miss the old bloke, ha ha...

It looks, from the News that I'm about to be "stimulated" again... ha ha...
I'd better get my thinking cap on...
That didn't take long... ha ha...
I'm not complaining, I've got a good ten years' wear out of these jeans, but they really are starting to show it....
I'm leaning towards thinking that, horror of horrors, ha ha, it's clothes shopping time...
Daggy "tradie pants", they'll mix and match well with my extensive collection of flannie shirts, ha ha...
And if some portion of the sale goes to a good cause, then that 's an added bonus.
I'll have to look into it...

Sometimes people I know surprise me with just how insightful they can be...
"If you're going past the shops, can you pick up a four pack of little bottles of tonic water for me... I'll explain, later...".
This is how it works...
Hydroxychloroquinine...
Hydro - which is water, tap water for instance...
Chloro - chlorine, like they put in tap water...
Quinine - the stuff you find in tonic water...
Mix three parts of tonic water to one part of tap water, add a generous dash of gin, and you've solved all the World's problems... ha ha...
Either they're an unacknowledged genius, or they're having a lend of me, ha ha....
