So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts

The pigeons are pretty good when it comes to not getting underfoot.
I go outside and they scurry off like a little grey carpet.
Sometimes they'll find themselves at a T junction, of sorts - they stop, and they dither...
Go left?.... Umm.... Go right?... Umm... Go left?.... Umm.... Go right?.... Umm...
This can take several seconds, ha ha.
Then it suddenly occurs to them that they're birds, and they can fly away...
They're a bit of a worry, ha ha.
The cheeky baby cockatoo, sitting on a bridge outside, saw me and took that as an invitation to bob up and down and make rasping, gurgling noises at me...
Yes, little bird, I know exactly what you're saying...
No, little bird, I am Not going to go and make you instant oats, then bring a bowl and a spoon and play "Here comes the aeroplane" with you.
You have parents who can feed you quite adequately... ha ha.
But I will give you points for trying, ha ha.

Spot the blackbird amused me no end, this afternoon...
He hopped over to one of the wattlebirds who had just picked up a piece of bread, and snatched it from their beak, before hurrying off, ha ha.
The wattlebird stood there for a moment, not quite sure of what was going on, then got on with being a wattlebird because there's no arguing with Spot.
Not knowing how long blackbirds last, I'd hazard a guess that this is third or fourth generation Spot, and not the original who inspired me to make a "Spot and the worm" toy, very many years ago.
The "Spot personality" gene has been passed down the generations - this blackbird is at least as self important as the original was, ha ha.
The original Spot toy was meant to be a simple affair, something for my own amusement, as much as something that I could look at, while it worked, and say "Okay, I see how it works", and at least in theory I can build something similar, if I want to, ha ha.
To make Spot go, you turn the disc on the front a half turn, or thereabouts, to the left, then the right, and it looks like Spot's pulling on the worm, and then the worm's pulling back, ha ha.
Simple but amusing, ha ha.

Takeaway and the little one came down the bridge from the pergola, to the tree...
Down climbs Mum - first peg... second peg... short bridge... and over onto the big table, where she starts eating...
Little one manages the first peg, then looks down...
There's a hole there, between the tree and the bridge...
It's very dark, and not very inviting...
How will she get down...?
She looks around the tree, and sees a branch over the big table.
It doesn't matter that the branch, like most branches, slopes gently upwards.
She climbs round the tree, onto it and drops onto the big table...
A dark, uninviting hole or a bit of a drop onto the big table...?
Hmmm... The choice isn't that hard, ha ha.
There's a ramp at the end of the table that is crying out to be explored by a little possum...
So off she goes, ha ha.
While she's off exploring, Takeaway comes back over to the small table to see if there are any interesting leftovers...
And who should appear on the big table, essentially between the two girls?
The big boy possum who's been hanging around the last few days...
Could this be a problem...?
Takeaway sees him and casually picks up a piece of bread in her mouth, before walking over to the big table, where he is.
Is he afraid of her?
No.
I think mildly terrified would be a better way of putting it, ha ha.
He ran away...
Up the ramp that the little one had gone up, exploring...
I'm waiting for the moment when an awful squeal signals that all is not well...
But it never comes, ha ha.
The little one appears, moments later and clambers onto Mum's back - "Mum... Mum...I had a big adventure... ".
"That's nice, dear... Adventures are fun".
And then Takeaway went back to eating, and the little one...?
Well, the world's a big place, and there's plenty yet to be seen...ha ha.

Takeaway got up and walked along the bridge, over to breakfast...
Zoo, because even little possums need a name, ha ha, pokes her head out the doorway...
"I've got the bridge to myself!"...
She doesn't quite hop, or skip...
Her front legs move together, her back legs move together...
A sort of hopping, skipping motion...
Now, plywood, over time, used as a "bridge" surface loses it's roughness.
It's by no means mirror smooth, but it's not exactly what you might call grippy.
You can probably see where this is going... ha ha.
Poor little Zoo... Skip... skip... skip... full of happiness and enthusiasm, loses her traction and ends up on her belly.
She lay there for a moment and then told all and sundry that she was not pleased, in no uncertain terms... ha ha.
Then she picked herself up and went back to the house...
After a moment she poked her head out the door, and told the world that she did not want a repeat performance, thank you...
She skipped/hopped down the bridge, again, (this is where absolute belief that it will work this time overrides the lesson of experience), and this time she was successful, ending her little foray by climbing onto the safety of Mum's back, ha ha.
So many exciting things happen in the life of a little possum, ha ha.
