This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out

I've got three violets - a white, a dark purple and a violet purple violet.
The violet violet had to be rescued from the evil clutches of the dreaded sticky, breaks easily, will grow anywhere and at a pace you wouldn't believe weed.
I thought I'd seen the last of it, last year, after several applications of weed killer, but it seems not...
Devious, devious little plant... ha ha...
I replanted the violet in a raised garden bed.
It should be fine in there, I thought... There's enough sunlight and water, good soil...
Or so I might have thought, ha ha...
That particular corner of the garden is a possum highway...
The violet is doing okay, it's just a little trampled, ha ha....
I've got some black plastic mesh, suitable for making a curved cover for it, but I'll have to be careful to leave enough room underneath it for the currawongs...
They like to forage, and sometimes they get themselves stuck...
If you've ever wondered what the end of the World would sound like, let a currawong get itself wedged under the plastic mesh in the guttering...
Oh, the indignity! Oh, the wailing! ha ha...
I thought that pruning saw on a pole wouldn't be much good for anything but pruning, but it came in very handy for lifting the plastic mesh out of the gutter, while avoiding the hysterical currawong... ha ha...
It turned out to be a very good purchase, indeed... ha ha.
Attract birds to your garden, they said... It'll be fun, they said...
Fun, yes... and games... ha ha...

It's not all crisis and activity here, every day... ha ha...
I've gone for several days where the most exciting thing that happened was that the blue wren came by and had a bath in the big bird bath, ha ha...
That's a pretty exciting thing in itself...
Watching the little blue and black golf ball jump into the water, only to emerge moments later, a skinny, bedraggled thing, barely a shadow of his former self, ha ha...
I'm yet to see Mrs wren have a bath, but she's very keen to stand on the side of the bird bath and cheer him on, all the same...
He hops into the water and lowers himself down, just a little... then just a little more, and he starts to flap his wings...
They move so fast that you can barely see them, a flash of deep bronze feathers...
And they make a noise like the old Motorola pagers did...
A frantic, insistent buzzing, ha ha...
I used to write in my diary that they'd come by in the evening because seeing them was a pretty novel thing...
Now they turn up in the middle of the day, and again in the evening if they feel like it, and I'm sure they come through first thing in the morning, as well... ha ha...
It's not as though they think they own the place, much... ha ha.
It's when they start pointing me towards sites like "How to build a wren nest" that I'll know they're serious, ha ha...
I suppose if I was a really, really nice person I'd plant a couple of bottle brushes, add a little bit more native plant life to the garden for them.
I've tried growing bottle brushes in the past, but it wasn't successful...
They suffered from a common condition called notenoughwateritis... ha ha...
Don't ever think that cockatoos can't count....
Take two slices of bread pressed together, tear a strip off one side of them, and break that crusty strip into two...
You have four pieces... now, hand out those small pieces of bread to the waiting cockatoos - One... Two... Three...
And wait for the scowling of a lifetime from bird number four - "You can't hide that piece of bread from me...", ha ha...

Can't argue with that Martin, same kind of thing has been happening here on the island.
