The cockatoo's clinging to an upright stake, with one foot above, one foot below, and the bird in the middle, ha ha.

So I offered him my arm, which seemed to me to be a slightly more comfortable option...

Tentatively, he put one foot on my arm, and decided that yes, it was solid and stable, so over he climbed...

But half way down my forearm isn't where the action is...

So he shuffled along to my hand...

Hands are squishy things, and squishy things should be gripped firmly...

Not to the point of drawing blood, but claws are, after all, designed to grip with...

It's not exactly "Ouch!" uncomfortable, but at the same time I wasn't going to encourage him to stay any longer than he wanted to, ha ha.

I can see, now, that his confidence bolstered by the experience will mean that he'll be even more of an attention demanding monster than he already is - "But I'm your extra special friend... You have to pay me even more attention, now...", ha ha.

Oh, boy... what have I done? ha ha.

Good afternoon all .....  

I'm not supposed to even be here today .. then again, it's been a long long day since sunrise;   come sunset and midnight it's even longer! ...  

Far too much to do between here and the silly season .. so what do I do to myself to make it worse ... yes, that's right, I find another project I won't have time to do unless planet earth slows down and the days are now 48 hours long .. sigh!

It's designed by the wonderful American art quilter McKenna Ryan.   I've made a few of hers and thought "that's enough, no more", but suddenly up this one pops and I'm in hook line and sinker again .. groan!   Of course I'll have to modify it a little to save time and get it done quickly, but that's okay, vee haff vays.

Roll on December!  I'm determined to have "snow" one way or the other!

The cockatoos drop feathers here and there, and every so often I'll pick up a nice big wing feather, or, on the odd occasion, a crest feather.

Crest feathers turn up fairly rarely, so I tend to keep an eye out for them.

I saw one this afternoon and went over to pick it up...

Not one, but four... that's a good find...

I've got a fair idea of how four crest feathers came to be on the ground, in the same place... somebody's "dispute resolution" got a little out of hand, ha ha.

Mostly they're satisfied with posturing and "pulling faces" at each other, or if it goes that far, facing each other and plucking feathers out of each other's chests, but as the crest feathers show, it can get bit rougher than that, ha ha.

It's a beautiful clear blue sky kind of day and the birds have taken off down to the local school oval to carve crop circles in it.

At least, I think that's what they're doing...

Not a bird to be seen, but one...

The old man with the busted leg, sitting, waiting patiently on the bird perch.

"Where do you want your breakfast?" I asked, as he was already halfway across the gap, heading for the bridge, ha ha.

He spent the next couple of hours making his way down the bridge - pile of food to pile of food...

Well, he might as well take advantage of it while there's no one else around, ha ha.

I had an hour or so to spare so I dropped over to see Buddha, and as I pulled up in the carpark I was greeted by a sight that can only be described as incongruous - The local Buddhist community were holding a sausage sizzle, ha ha.

It's okay, they're vegetarian sausages...

But just for a moment it looked so... out of place... ha ha.
