Must be a very passionate man eh?

I have met Joe and he is a very passionate man and not a bully or a thug. It's pathetic that he was even fined, it's perfectly fine for employers to ignore safety on job sites and even when a construction worker dies on the job employers walk away free to do as they like, that is the ultimate bullying on the job.

he grabbed a man by the throat.......thug.......and not the first time

Re: unions and labor

i agree that no one should die at work......but unfortunately it will never get down to no deaths.

there will always be acceidents. no body has the answer to this

lots of deaths are also caused by employee error.

Re: unions and labor

You can thank the union movement for safety gear at work and for safe work practices.

Or would you rather we didn't have these things?

Re: unions and labor

Yeah, like the over the top political correctness and the never ending red tape that is associated with even the simplest 'job"

Let's hope the adults take an axe to a lot of it

Re: unions and labor

Yeah it'd be fabulous to see them axe work safety laws, such a waste of expensive red tape. Let's go back to the days when apprentices used jackhammers with gym shoes and welders could wear masks if they felt like it.

Great idea, poddy.

Re: unions and labor

i've had  two experiences with different unions i didn't like at the time, but the realisation that i'd be dead or impoverished if they didn't exist soon had me thinking straight again. gratitude for the grind of our forbears is sadly lacking. unless they were at gallipoli of course.

on another tangent, i find the same lack of historical context in the views of freedom commissioner tim wilson, who fails to recognise that the unions and the left made his lifestyle possible by standing side by side when nobody else would. no context tim.

over the top political correctness - hahahahaha, so someone doesn't like politeness,  I'm shocked. Red tape is a government and employer thing, not something the Trade Unions can be blamed for.
