we are 28th in the world in internet speed :(

And we can only hope that the LNP will change their minds, will listen to reason and implement the NBN.

Excuse me but Podds is the only person who talks about utube.

Please point out where I mentioned "You Tube".

Sorry, it seems another of the anti brigade don't know the difference between the utube and youtube.

That ought to be proof enough that they're not in the industry.  Old has beens that think they know what's best for the future.

my apologies

same difference though, it wasn't Podds that introduced the topic,

@and LOL @ has been....

even if it were true, (which it's not) it is better to be a has been than a never was, eh?

It was 2 old men that seem to be rather out of touch with new technologies that mentioned utube, hence the has been tag.

utube and youtube are not even similar.

FN: "Why do you need to know what speed I need? It varies each day."
Actually FN you are allocated only a maximum speed within your chosen "plan", and you have stated that you use "basic NBN" which  is  NBN Tier 1 12/1Mbps, and so I do wonder if you appreciate max speed,  data allowance,  and the 5 NBN speed Tiers (12/1 to 100/40)
Everyone would like the fastest UP/DOWN, but being practical, do they need it, have the appropriate eqipment, or even known what they need?

FN: "There are no radios or TVs so internet streaming is it."
"no Tv" I understand can occur, but no radio? means you would have to be rather isolated, which obviously your are not if you have the NBN connected .
"Radio National currently has 327 transmitter sites and covers over 98% of the permanently inhabited areas of Australia" (ABC also have short wave broadcasts)
There are free to air satellite TV and radio channels but the initial outlay is a little expensive but obviously would/could be a business deduction write off..

Anyway FN, what NBN Tier do you actually use?, and why no TV/radio?

As previously stated, the tier 1 speed was not available when I first got connected and is still not offered by all providers, last time I checked.  I've had the 50/20 and the 25/5 plans.

I said there are no TVs or Radios here in the workplace, not that they're not available in the area (although digital TV has only been here for 9 months). The building needs an external antenna to be fitted if we wish to use either so we don't bother.  There is more choice of radio and TV programming online than FTA or radio broadcasts, inlcusing all the ABC content regardless of regional boundaries.

Yes John, many families do need and want the 100/40 packages on offer. When sharing a house in Canberra with 6 other adults with 3 IP capable TVs about 10 mobile devices, 6 laptops and 2 desk top computers it is very easy to use the available bandwidth and quota.  The ability to upload is becoming more important to more people all the time now.  I use video conferencing a lot and most people I talk to have lousy quality and worse consistency. Some people are clear at certain times of day and totally break up at others. My end is good all the time but unfortunately often their end is not of a decent standard to get a clear picture.

FN: "There is a difference in being quizzed and being attacked with made up information by a person making guesses based on assumption alone and by default implying I am telling lies."

FN, Saying I do not believe you does mean you are a liar, only you have not supported your argument sufficiently to convince me,  as in law an honestly held opinion is a defence to  libel.  So you now have the chance to support what you write, so please explain:

1. made up information

2. making guesses based on assumption alone

3. ficticious figures

FN: "I will not disclose my details or the details of the businesses in my areal."
I do not think anyone is the slightest bit interested in any of the above FN, I just wish to know what speed you actually need, and what you have. It is hardly "eyes only" information .

John, these speed tests are done on a 25/5 connection today via wifi, if you're interested.

Comparable to a FTTN connection 🙂

Now try the same servers using a faster local connection.

That would be a better test 🙂

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: we are 28th in the world in internet speed :(

Now that we have got additional information

25/5 Mbps     $54.95       $74.95         $94.95        $144.95

NBNP/A        $659.40     $899.40       $1139.40    $1739.40

for a saving of $1500.00 P/A your previous service would have to cost

                     $2159.4     $2399.40     $2639.40    $3239.40

Monthly        $179.95     $199.95       $219.95      $269.95

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
