what happened to the old cs I used to know?

After a long time away I return and all I can see is a plethora of political discussions. And most of them saying exactly the same thing. A multitude of copying and pasting from a couple of posters in particular in what seems like an endless stream of anti labor party threads day in and day out.

And the thing is the same topic is often repeated. For example boat people discussions. Why on earth don't those wishing to constantly harp on about them simply find an old discussion about the topic and continue posting on there instead of creating new ones? Or why not set up a topic and call it the "We hate the Labor Party and Julia Gillard because" and add to it every time you find something else to feel obligated to copy from elsewhere and paste here. That way all the discussions are in one place.

This place used to be entertaining, instead it seems to have turned into a anti Labor party discussion forum with a few other threads thrown in which disintegrate into stoushes between posters on here.

Though you lot were all adults? Some of the nastiness going on here is just out and out bullying. Little groups of nasty little girls and boys picking on certain people. Others taking delight in saying that they have screen saved a certain post by someone, no doubt so it can be used against that person another time.

I remember days when there was a lot of laughter happening here.

Seems like there are a certain group of posters who have decided they are in control and woe betide anyone who disagrees with what they post.

And no doubt they will be attacking me for venting here.

i've been posting here since 2001 so i would probably remember you from CW.  maybe there was another ID with pea in it.  i remember gifts and who would forget fearless.

I remember the 'Banned Wagon' thread.  That was funny.

And Match was hilarious - what a superb troll - and people bit, every single time.  Hook, line and sinker.

First of all half the problems are because people find it hard to recognise, or accept a sense of humour, and very often they don't even understand that many things are said in jest, so they either start a punch-up over it or hit the report button.

Next comes down to the fact that silly message boards like this are the highlight of some people's communication day. This is the kind of world they live in!

Next is the fact that some people get their kicks out of attempting to wind others up in some way. They're just out and out nutcases, but the internet is their playground.

Next is the fact that if you attempt to open a discussion on something worthwhile it'll get hijacked so it goes way off beam and often ends up in a fee for all bun fight. So basically many decent posters have given up trying.

Next is the fact that some people are just plain empty headed and have no communication skills worth a damn so they only want to talk about some dumb TV show or plain out and out rubbish.

The political or religious based threads are usually a setup by the OP to drag someone else into an argument over something that neither side truly understand fully.

They certainly aren't intended to broaden minds or open up fresh thinking, or recognise another point of view worth airing

Perhaps it's way past time Ebay just shut this lot down once and for all, but wouldn't that upset quite a few around here :^O.

We've lost a couple of seriously nasty and possible deranged posters in the past year.

A couple of political threads thrown in here and there won't hurt you.

It didn't take long for you to be  sure of the facts .

Sometimes when I can't sleep at night I come on the net to read up on all sorts of topics, and sometimes I used to come in here to the Ebay boards and back read, so it soon became fairly obvious what the general situation here was/is.

I tried to open up a couple of what I considered to be reasonably worthwhile topics for discussion but if you do a search you won't find them here any more because some kindly button pusher got the mods to wipe them totally, so I just gave up trying to talk about anything interesting.

I only came here in the first place in the hope I could talk about something worthwhile with other thinking adults, but that's already proven to be mission impossible on these open boards, so now I only get to talk to most of those who have something worthwhile to say around here by PM and just make the odd comment on the boards, either jokingly (Which most posters here just don't get) or as a passing comment on the spur of the moment.

That's exactly what I tend to do with those sorts of threads, just ignore them because I soon learned they are mainly rants.
