aks is mine.......instead of ask. Why can't people get that right and it is quite common, also picked up alot so I don't get why people can't say it correctly.

This isn't a mispronounciation and it makes me giggle more than irks me... when middle aged people use words like "awesome" words used by kids etc. It's like a verbal version of a comb over ! LOL

not a mispronunciation, more of an accent, but I hate the way the southern states say gell instead of girl
Just wondering which southern states you mean? I've never heard that in Melbourne, unless you mean Tassy, lol?
(Unless I say it myself and don't know 😉 )

Canadians like saying eh/ay at the end of sentences...
"What's going on eh?"

Bright.ton I've noticed on a lot of the game shows so I think melbourne, also some news readers which I think were Sth Aus. It's not something I hear in northern nsw.

perhaps it's not regional, maybe it's more generational and it's the way all younger folk say it.

Same as the americans say al-oo-minum instead of aloo-minium, I don't think they're right in that. Or Argent-eyne. It should be Argent-eene. That's what I reckon.
I SO agree Icy.
Another one that gets me is Americans (and others) who say nucular instead of nuclear.
My MIL always says K-marK, not K-marT. Really gets my goat, especially when I politely corrected her and she says, yes I know it's wrong but that's how I say it. X-(
