where is freedom

The only way to even try to maintain freedom is to not let them take away your firearms. How many free countries disallow its citizens to own firearms.

There is also no compelling argument to maintain and keep people that think that they know how everyone should live but they get about in increasing numbers and then whinge about the nanny state. No such thing as a nanny state. Truth is its all you nanny citizens that are the problem.

I would say, "Wait a minute, while I get the key to my gun safe and remove a gun, load it, and bring it back here". LOL

OCers know what time it is, their gun is always on them. Your firearm, Don't leave home without it.

Had you read on further before replying....................... I have agreed that they may have found another way........... my other younger cousin also found a rope.

The thing is, I have aunts, nieces and nephews and cousins who found them.............some as young as 5 yo. That's the trauma I was talking about.

I know what I am talking about, just as you do.

and youngest grandson also lost a good friend last year, he drove his car into a tree a high speed.

people will always find a way.

The thing is that pulling te trigger is very easy - IF you have a firearm handy.  All the other methods take bit more preparation, which gives time to think and maybe change your mind.

Re: where is freedom

I sincerely hope that Australia holds its line in terms of gun control.  I pity this country if we go down the path of the USA where it is deemed "normal" in some States to feel the need (or exercise your apparent right) to "OC" weapons.  It's an affront to a civilised society.

Opposite to what you call "nanny state" is anarchy.  Sadly, as too many people behave like spoiled 4 years old, thinking that the universe revolves around them, and do not care or even stop to consider other people, it is necessary to impose rules in order to make our society work.  When I was young it was call good manner and it was unthinkable to behave in antisocial ways.  It was not tolerated at home, at school or elsewhere.  Now, people seem to think it is their right to do anything they want, even if it is detrimental to others.

Re: where is freedom

Yes, I remember the old days that were so great. Parents bashed you. Teachers bashed you. Coppers bashed you but that wasn't antisocial. Yes please let's bring back the bashings because now I'm the one that can get ti dish it out. Have a list already. You appear to have deluded yourself into thinking that wholesale violence against those that do not do as you wish is good. Very strange indeed

I'm not supporting criminal or immoral behaviour but many here want to control every facet of thought and action.

That was NOT my intent with my answer.

I would not choose to live in a country where most people have a gun in their handbag.

I am aware that in Australia, not every gun is locked away as they are supposed to be.

Re: where is freedom

I was never bashed by my Parents, Teachers, or the Police, think mainly because I respected all three, just up bringing I suppose.
