Re: who will win? Trump or Biden?

The crowd was not menacing or fired up??

The crowd stormed the Capitol and there have been 4 deaths so far.  I hate to think what the damage might have been if they were fired up.

"As chaos ripped through Washington, D.C., on Wednesday afternoon, President Trump quietly slipped into his motorcade to be whisked back to the White House, despite having told his supporters that he was going to walk with them to the Capitol Building."

Guess the bone spurs were playing up again

US Capitol locked down as Donald Trump supporters clash with police

If any clashed with police they were not likely Trump supporters

Like to justify that opinion with some facts?

The crowd was not menacing or fired up - not exactly storming the Bastille, or else the bumbling Police would have opened up - and note  there is no reporting of wide spread shootings or general anachy , unlike other protests

Storming the Capitol, which is the American equivalent.

I guess we now know, for future reference, how wedded to facts you are. Which is not very.

"Australian prime minister Scott Morrison says he is hoping for a peaceful transfer of power in the United States as he condemned rioters for โ€œterribly distressingโ€ acts of violence in storming the Capitol building.

But he stopped short of criticising Donald Trump for sending mixed messages when the president asked his supporters to disperse, and also declined to rebuke one of his own backbench MPs for promoting unfounded conspiracy theories over the US presidential election results."

ScoMo in a nutshell.

I'm not sure why he would think implicitly supporting a lame-duck whose party won't have any legislative influence for at least 2 years (well after he has to face his own electors) will help him, or his party.

I didn't do 'failed advertising executive 101' though.

it was flint lock pistols n rifles not AK47s

the govt didnt have a multi level armed force so the idea of 'the people' rising up and taking control could have been possible (back then)

so while today they still spout the 'we have the right' only a daft twitt would think even with high power weapons of today, a handful (in context) well armed citizens wouldnt stand a chance in a govt coup

if the govt forces were given free range to do what they do to quell the morons with guns it would be over in about 1 day IMO

these idiots today were relying on their numbers and that the police at the scene would most likely not shoot to kill

of course i fully expect the govt to now fortify the congress building making it near on impossible to try this again

As far as weaponry goes, you know that, I know that, but we're talking about the American public here. Quite a few of them hold onto the idea that gun possession is necessary in case they ever need to defend themselves against others or even a corrupt government.

I think part of the problem in USA is their very name is a misnomer at the moment. They are very disunited, especially over the last year. They can't pull together, they can't agree on anything, even wearing masks became a political issue, not a medical one. From what I have seen, they have had poor, weak leadership right across the board, state and federal. They have got used to rioting at the drop of a hat. We've seen them hurting each other in riots, destroying buildings in riots, having nearly every protest descend into violence.

So the question to my mind is why is anyone surprised by this latest? It is just another building. Nothing & no one is sacred.

From what I saw, quite a few of the protestors were not violent, they seemed more intent on getting photos, but in any protest, you'll often get a violent element and when it comes to American protests lately, you can change 'often' to 'always'. Predictable.

Individuals clashing with police when the main body of protesters , who have gathered in support of the President and are clearly calm , would with reason undermine the President.

Same with entering the Senate in an unruly manner and some vandalising

Outside the Police were behind low containment grid barriers and where not provocative

One has to make allowance for the mentally unsound , who are part of any gathering , unless the actions of trolls/ringins/trouble-makers become violently dominant or the objective is clearly a major feasible uprising ( aka "Boston Tea Party" of 1773 )

Is a shame the main body of protesters did not deal with the troll/hotheads or maybe they did - you can catch video of mass protesters were grouped  outside Senate building with riot squad calm and non-defensive -and without barriers

Different country of different influences due to history , ethnic mix , function , conditioned attitudes , ethos - they make decisions more skewed towards favouring commerce and capital gain

Mistake to think they will respond to a situation the same as Australia
