Down to 26c in Melb now. Much better. Still not looking forward to tomorrow.
Daughter's air con died. Fat chance the agent will have that fixed before next
week. Guess I'm having visitors tomorrow, for all day

It's cooled down a bit here.Have had some thunder and lightening and a few spots of rain .Still too hot in the house to sleep though.
Cat Miox, I'm sure that your cats will be OK .Other posters have given good advice already. It's probably too late now for you to do this for tomorrow ....but maybe some frozen ice packs/containers/bottles or whatever placed under their bedding if they won't lay on the tiles or wet towels may be an idea to help keep them cool ?
One of my cats used to like to lay in the damp shower base when it was hot .It had a habit of licking the base too....even though it had a water bowl to drink from

I should stop worrying about my kitties. My Birman got heat exhaustion as a kitten once. We had to wrap her in a wet towel and hold her up to the aircon. It was 20 mins before she stopped panting!
Severe storm warning now. Shouldn't that bring the temp down?
Surely?
It is really hard to not worry when you have had an experience like that... even worse when you have to leave them alone to go to work for the day. I think they will be fine...
fgs miaux cats have survived being thrown down drains, abandoned on city streets in the middle of traffic, found their way over thousands of miles after being accidently left behind.
They'll be fine. Lay them on the bathroom tiles and keep their ears wet.
This reminded me of when my cat went missing. long story short. he got locked in someone's garage. The owners went on holidays. It was in the middle of summer. I found him after 9 days. Not sure how he survived but he was OK.

I am happy to go without power for 2 hours rather than the grid be overloaded to the extent that everyone is wiithout power for weeks due to a burnt out grid.
if we all go easy on our power usage we will be fine.
hard on those who have medical issues but you can contact your su
pplier and let them know. Miss 10 here is asthmatic but se have a plan in place
stay cool everyone....rest your feet on a wet towel taken from the freezer. cool your wrists too as that helps.
keep topping up water bowls for pets anx wildlife
