I came home from work fully expecting to see a few panting and distressed kitties. They seem okay, although my deaf kitty took a long time to actually get up of the floor. They were all hot and bothered and the temp inside the house was oppressive and stifling hot. I wiped them all down with a wet towel and opened up the windows. A hot breeze is sometimes better than a stifling house.
My sister has rung and she says she needs to stay with me for a few days. Ekkkk! As much as I love her it means tidying the spare room NOW because she's coming over tomorrow morning. I have to vacuum, mop the floor and put stuff away. I'm going to be sweating buckets. *sob*. Oh and I better clean the bathroom, I've done no housework since Tuesday.
Stay cool and for those in Melbourne .. less than 24 hours to go and this nightmare hell will be over!

I just typed a long rant on my phone (which takes forever) about the lack of power and the prospect that its now not coming on until 6am....and then it turned on!
I'm a little concerned though, it seems to be going off at an exact hour and then turning back on at an exact hour, that fact they didnt expect it to turn back on until 6am makes me think they have another blackout planned for us 😞 I think 8 hours was long enough!
I wonder if they'll give me longer than an hour this time?

My son just came home with a worrying story about what happened to him today. He was driving to work (no aircon in car) and stopped for petrol. He collasped on the concrete. A passerby helped him inside and both he and the guy behind the counter gave him water and wet towels. They wanted to call an ambulance but my son refused and drove himself to the doctors. The doctor told him he needed to go to hospital because he was suffering heat exhaustion. Once he got there the waiting room was full to capacity and after an hour he left before seeing a doctor and drove to a friends house for the day and they looked after him.
After he told me what had happened I asked him if he had a headache.
Son - yes
Mother - do you want some panadol?
Son- nah
Mother - I think you should have a cool shower
Son- nah I'm going to play computer games
Mother - why don't you wet your t-shirt because it's hot up in the bedroom
Son- nah I'll be ok, I've got V to drink
Mother - that drink has caffeine, better to have water or a sports drink
Son- nah I like V
*sigh*

the amount of heart attacks has doubled over the past few days. Paramedics have had lots of call outs for collapsed people suffering heat exhaustion.
I hope he's OK Cat, you didn't really think he'd listen tto his mum did you?
so how's everyone doing this morning.? I only managed a couple of hours sleep last night.
OH was telling me that shopping centres are telling disabled and homeless people to move on, they're the only places for some people to go to get any relief from the heat

I grew my hair out for a year... wanted to try long hair again...
It got pretty long, shoulder length so that was not too bad.
But then the heat started..... yucky sweaty hair even when you put it up. When I got home and took it out it was all wet with sweat, totally disgusting. It also took half an hour of my time when I had to get ready for work.
So I went and had it cut back to less than 2cm short.... and I love it...
Be brave and do the deed...

Punch, it seems odd that where you are is losing power all the time.......what have you got that the rest of the hills dont have?
Hope it stays on for you today.

I got a new little temp and rain guage this week. It gives me temp and rain outside and temp inside. I sit the little catcher in the middle of the lawn and feeds the info back inside. 46 degrees on the lawn at lunchtime just about every day this week. I am just thankful we have had a great seabreeze at the moment and it keep the house cool.

Deb, the CFA, and police ate telling people to go to the shopping centres, I think that means ALL including homeless, disabled etc, the shoppiing centres cant toss anyone out, that is just so cruel.........

morning PH
I think it's very cruel too, but apparently that's what they're doing
we went to Doncaster last night for a break from the heat and it was really busy there, but nice to be somewhere cooler. Coming home was like walking into an oven
