How to get data off a hard drive that was fried in a power surge

Last w/end we had a power surge and my DD's computer was damaged.

On the hard drive she has important information that she needs but it is fried, so how does she go about getting this infomation off the hard drive?

any advice greatly appreciated.

if the damage is only the circut board and not the motors or platter(s)you stand a chance by using the board from an identical drive.

You do need a bit of experence & ability to be sucessfull.
